See homepage husebybruk,se. At Huseby, you have access to a restaurant/café, a tourist office, and museums. Various events are held at Huseby the year around, such as the largest christmas fair in the north, food fairs, exhibitions etc. Furthermore, the Småland opera annually stages a new performance at the site. You can see the beautiful Corps de logie from the river bank by the cottage. At night, the "castle"/mansion is magnificently lit. In past times, Huseby was a great ironworks. In the seventeenth century, Huseby manufactured a great number of cannons that were shipped on the river-system (and transported on the roads when needed), all the way to "Karlshamn" and the Baltic sea. The cannons armed many ships on the seven seas, and even today, a Huseby-cannon flanks the entrance port to Mombasa in Kenya, which at the time was a dutch trading-station. -The well known Husebymaden-wetland is located right across the river from the cottage, a breeding ground for several bird species. Among others, sea eagles and cranes can be spotted. A birdwatching tower is located at the other side of the wetland, on the road between Huseby and Grimslöv. On sunday mornings between april and october, the tower is manned with an ornithologist, who will gladly give tips and information. -The river at Huseby gushes through the wheels of the old mill, and from there runs all the way out into the lake of Åsnen. The fishing, both in the river and the lake, is widely known as being excellent. The waters are renowned for the opportunity of catching zander (pike-perch), and the pike strikes frequently. Other fish to be found in the waters are, among others, eel, perch, tench, roach and bream. Fishing license can easily be purchased either at ifiske,se or at the tourist office at Huseby, which has daily opening hours during summer. A fishing license for Åsnen lake is valid for the whole family and costs 100 sek/day or 300 sek/week. A fishing license for Salen lake (directly north of Huseby manor) and the river costs 50 sek/day or 100 sek/week but is only valid for one person. -A raft for bathing and swimming is located at the river bank by the cottage (to be shared with the hosting couple), perfect for a cooling swim on hot summer days (though not particularly child-friendly, due to depth and mild currents in the water). -The canoe trail of Värendsleden runs past the cottage, stretching from Asasjön-lake in the north, to the Mörrumsån-river in the south. In lake Åsnen, there is a fantastic archipelago to be enjoyed. Canoe can be rented for an extra fee. -Odensjö (Odin lake) village is scenically located at the shore of lake Åsnen and Helige river. Deciduous trees and wide open fields meet glittering waters. The village and the wider region have a rich history. "Blodberget" (Blood mountain), a burial site from viking times, with its spectacular view over the lake, is a fantastic sight to behold. The legend of Blenda, whom together with other women, killed invading danes, is telltale in the local names, such as "Blodviken" (Blood bay) and Skäggalösa (Beardless) village. Around Skatelövsfjorden, there are also several other ancient remains to be seen, such as runestones, places of sacrifice and burial fields. -The farmstead usually holds sheep during summer, which makes for an idyllic scenery, while they are grazing at the riverside. There are also dogs, and at times chickens and hens. Furthermore are cows and horses a common view on the fields of Odensjö Village during summer. The cottage is located approximately 20 km from the city of Växjö. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes by car to get to a shopping mall with supermarkets and other various stores. There is a bus stop located at highway 23, at a 2 km distance from the cottage.
