Our summer home on the beautiful South Coast of South Africa is a lovingly restored family home with a cottage feel, near beautiful beaches one hour south of Durban. Situated in the quiet rural Longbeach Resort at Mtwalume on the South Coast, Kwa Zulu Natal, the home is fully and tastefully furnished and is clean, airy and bright. Perfect for families and for a group of friends. Pet friendly! The house has 4 bedrooms: 1 main bedroom (ground floor) with King size bed and cooling fan. This bedroom has an en suite bathroom (shower only, separate from toilet) and an interleading room to a very small twin bed room (ideal for small children or single people). Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms with queen beds and a shared bathroom (bath only). The family lounge / dining room is large and spacious. DSTV is available as an optional extra and on request (it needs to be activated for your stay). There is a private small swimming pool at the house (NB: No safety net. Parents are required to ensure that children are accompanied by an adult at all times). There is also a wood braai facility (wood can be purchased from local vendors or at the supermarkets). The house is not on the beach but does hove beautiful horizon sea views. The complex has 24 Hour security with electric fencing and access control with 2 daytime and 4 night time guards patrolling 24/7. There are 2 x communal use swimming pools in the estate. The estate has beautiful and lush terraces, perfect for walks. Linen is included. Please bring own beach towels. The housekeeper’s cleaning services is included in the rate. She will work from Monday - Saturday (8:00 am - 16:00 pm) to clean and do any washing and ironing required as well as inventory checks.....tips are most welcome. No smoking permitted indoors. Pet friendly. Arrange with owners on request. We have a house keeper who will welcome you on arrival and be available from 8am - 4pm during your stay. I, Adelaide, as the host will be available at any time on my cell for queries. Main beach with tidal pool for small children (Mtwalume) – 2 kms drive. Rocky’s Beach, Mtwalume (1.5kms) with Granny’s rock pools for small children to one side and The Gulleys for snorkelling on the other side. Wide open beach in between for big groups. Note: No shark nets. Swimming is at own risk. Hibberdene blue flag beach 12kms south of Mtwalume. Hibberdene is the closest shopping centre at just 12kms and has Engen Garage, SPAR and Pick ‘n Pay supermarkets, hardware stores, a pub, coffee shop, hairdresser, pharmacy, medical facilities and other essential shops. Fifi’s Fresh Fish Shop Hibberdene – known up and down the south coast for the best fish and chips Take-aways (don’t let the rough interior of the shop fool you, the food is great!). Woolworths at Scottburgh Mall (Between Scottburgh and Park Rynie is 10 minutes’ drive north of Mtwalume. Scottburgh – large town with waterslides, blue flag beaches, restaurants. Golf - Selbourne Country Club and Golf Estate and Umdoni Golf Course (has wonderful restaurant) at Pennington (5-minute drive north of Mtwalume). Spa and Massages - Selbourne Country Club and Golf Estate. Famous Marine Drive on old South Coast Road starts at Oslo Beach just south of Port Shepstone and continues through Shelly Beach, Uvongo, Margate and Ramsgate (Famous South Coast Waffle House – Ramsgate (30-minute drive from Mtwalume) ending at Wild Coast Casino. All these towns have great beaches some being on river outlets with paddle boats and good facilities. Stop at Nello’s Artisan Breads in Port Shepstone just off main road and bring home freshly baked bread, croissants and many other delicious delicacies. (Roxanne (Phone number hidden by Airbnb)  Visit the renowned Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve (64kms). Indulge in Lake Eland Game Reserve’s thrilling 4.5km Zip Line tour which soars across the magnificent Oribi George. Lake Eland Zip Line Tour is the longest in Africa There is vey little public transport in the area. You need your own vehicle.
