Bring your passport and enjoy an international vacation destination! Windsor, Ontario, is this area's best-kept secret. Located directly across the river from Detroit, it enjoys all the amenities (culture, sports and entertainment) that Detroit has to offer, while keeping the feeling of a smaller town. Come and enjoy our beautiful vintage home with award-winning gardens within steps of Coventry Garden waterfront park, the Detroit River and Peace Fountain. Enjoy our safe, quiet tree-lined boulevard and your spacious private room with cloud-like queen size bed with luxury bedding and private bath. Room has a sitting area with breakfast station, microwave and a small fridge for your convenience. Free wifi, and on street parking available. In the morning, watch the ships pass by on the Detroit River while you enjoy a bottomless cup of coffee (I did say my relatives are American, didn't I?) on our beautiful verandah. We are close to public transportation and minutes from the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Head to Detroit to enjoy the Detroit Institute of Arts, housing many renowned masterpieces. Attend sporting events at Comerica Park, Ford Field or Joe Louis Arena. Only a bus ride away, Detroit is so close that it is recognized as our "home" teams. Come and cheer for the Lions, Tigers and Red Wings! Every January, car enthusiasts flock to Detroit for the much-anticipated Detroit International Auto Show . You haven't seen anything until you have seen it in the Motor City! If you are a runner, the Detroit Marathon held in October is unique, crossing the border twice, running over the Ambassador Bridge and through the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Every November, the Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) attracts visitors from near and far for screenings of the most talk-about films of the year. Now in its eleventh year, this festival has grown to a major event in our area! Come be part of it! Stay on this side of the border and tour the Hiram Walker Distillery (the home of Canadian Club), attend world class entertainment at Caesars Windsor, visit the chic new restaurants in Walkerville. or attend one of the many festivals at our Festival Plaza on the waterfront. This is a great place for foodies and locavores! Do some day-tripping and "Explore the Shore", visiting the many award-winning wineries in the region, and enjoy our local produce. You can even follow the route of the Underground Railroad! We can provide you with a guidebook and map of the region and give you our suggestions for "must sees" in our area. Take a picnic (we will provide the picnic basket and blanket) and enjoy the sunset on the Detroit River . Come back and relax in our hot tub (especially if you have been running, sight-seeing or sitting outside in the stands!) or sit under our wisteria-covered pergola, have a barbeque, and watch the fireflies in summer. You will have a wonderful time! This is my home, and for clarity, I am on site when I have guests (to be compliant with city (Website hidden by Airbnb) also gives the neighbours peace of mind). Although I am retired, I have a busy life, and am often out and about. However, I am always available by phone or text, and will help with suggestions for activities or restaurants, or the history of the area if you need it. I love this area, and want you to experience all it has to offer! Conveniently located close to the waterfront parks, and to many popular restaurants, this is the best place to be in the city. You can go to the corner and have dinner, and then walk the park to see the sunset....all just steps away! For public transportation downtown and across the city, there is a Transit Windsor bus stop at the top of the street. Cabs anywhere are available, and Uber also operates in our city. There is even a tunnel bus that conveniently goes to many sporting events in Detroit!
