Our beautiful wide-beamed narrow boat is perfect for an escape from reality. Peaceful, calm & romantic, pet friendly with all home comforts (including Alexa). It's cosy & charming and is all yours to enjoy. Within 16 miles of Cambridge, 12 miles of Newmarket and 9 miles from Ely and a million miles from the crazy world outside. Moored on private land within the grounds of 'The Five Miles from Anywhere' pub. A covid secure, self contained piece of heaven. Relax & de-stress from life - fast! Enjoy It's a treat and a new experience for most! Why not try something new and different? The boat used to be Mark's home so really is kitted out to a high standard. The lack of light pollution means if you are lucky enough to get a clear sky at night you are in for a magical sunset and an evening amongst the stars. Which ever way the weather goes it's a fabulous view and a stay you'll always remember. Our frequent visitors come again & again for the hospitality, the best nights sleep they've had in ages and a total escape from the stresses of day-to-day life. Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations. We know this is a tough time for everyone and getting a slice of magic is more than deserved. Guests have access to the whole boat for the duration of their stay along with the use of a small garden area with table and chairs for drinks, while trying to spot the latest wildlife. There's a Kestrel, Barn Owl, Nesting Swans with their Cygnets and a Kingfisher. Keep your eyes peeled. We're only 15 mins away if you find you need our help. It's unlikely, but at least you know we can get there quickly if you need us. We are having to operate a self check in for social distancing reasons but are also at the end of a phone if you need us. Your stay should be a quiet one unless you plan on staying in the pub for a more lively evening - covid permitting! Friday nights are band nights...they'll be outside for you to enjoy as soon as possibe. From outside the boat the sounds wash over you and inside the boat you'll be in your own little world. The 'Five Miles from Anywhere, No Hurry Inn' is great for pub grub. There's usually no need to book. Just make sure you save room for the waffles! This is within walking distance from the boat and has live bands from time to time. Again, we hope this is all up and operational for Summer 2021. There's a great little pub in Reach - The Dykes End and another in Swaffham Prior - The Red Lion - both would require you to drive and it's advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment. The White Pheasant with two AA rosettes (Fordham 7 miles) requires advanced booking and is a great treat if you are planning a celebration. This is a rural location so we recommend your own transport. There is plenty of parking in the pub car park. The nearest train stations are either Waterbeach or Ely. If you are visiting Cambridge we recommend the Park and Ride as Cambridge congestion can make it harder work than it needs to be. If you are feeling curious, you are well located to discover the delights of Cambridge, Newmarket and Ely. Wicken Fen is just 4 miles away and is a Unesco world heritage site - a place of natural beauty and is unique in it's rarity. Do have a read of the boat manual once you are booked in as this will give you some ideas for your stay. Dogs are welcome but please be aware that they need to be on a lead in the pub gardens. The bathroom is a wetroom so you may want to bring some appropriate footwear for toilet trips in case the floor is still wet. If your main aim is to kick back and relax then this is the place to be!
