Lochside is an attractive, modern, and spacious bungalow, near Acharacle, Ardnamurchan, in the highlands, on the west coast of Scotland. It is a lovely, homely property, benefitting from a wood burning stove and central heating and is situated in a great location and a perfect base for your holiday. Well behaved dogs are welcome. House details are: Front door leads into a porch for wet coats and shoes. Then into the hall which has a decent coat and shoe cupboard. The comfy new living room has been turned around now with new attractive stove to the left, has seating for eight, views over the loch, and Sky TV. The adjacent dinning room area, comfortably seats eight around the dinning table, with french doors out onto a sheltered raised patio, to the rear of the house. The kitchen next door, has breakfast bar, RangeMaster ovens and gas hob, and is well equipped (but please let us know if we are missing something there). The back door exits also on to the sheltered patio area, with views to the hills beyond. Along the hallway we have the bathroom and shower. Four bedrooms, two to the rear and views of the garden, and two to the front with views of the loch. The bedrooms to the rear includes the master bedroom furnished with a kingsize double bed, en-suite toilet, basin and electric shower. The other a bit smaller room has a double bed. The front bedrooms, you have a kingsize bed in the yellow bedroom, and the purple bedroom has a decent double. Wifi is free and available throughout the property, and you can normally pick up a mobile phone signal. Adjacent to the house, there's a new building which is a games room. Here you have games which include Wii, Xbox 360, a new pool and air hockey reverse table, plus a darts board. There is also plenty of seating. The house benefits from an elevated position looking to the loch, on a very quiet no through road. Offering stunning views across the Loch to the hills beyond. The views to the rear are over the moor, to the hills of Glen Moidart. The garden is approximately two thirds of an acre, with also a patio to the front, and a seating area to the rear, a great place to to read a book. There is mobile barbeque and garden seating, offering space for all the family, friends and dogs. The garden is fenced on all sides with gated access to the spacious driveway. The house lies on the western end of Loch Shiel and is surrounded by beautiful scenery making it a popular holiday destination for people who enjoy the great outdoors. Acharacle (1miles) near by has some good quality resources such as: Loch Shiel hotel/pub/boat hire, Ardshealach restaurant, busy Lochshiel garage/ breakdown service, Tioram tea room, village store/post office, a doctor's surgery, loch shiel pier, all weather pitch, and small swing park and toilets. There is also a further two excellent local places to eat out close by, the Salen hotel (with cosy pub) and quality Mingarry Park restaurant. We believe the area has some of the best kept secrets on the west coast! From the stunning Loch Shiel, to local white sand beaches and Castle Tioram. Beautiful walks down river from the house take you a few miles to the sea and the Castle (the seat of Clan Ranald). You will find spectacular scenery, wild and beautiful, unspoilt landscapes. Populated with Scotland's most iconic wildlife, which are resident all year round. Eagles, otters, deer, red squirels, to name but a few Those interested in the past will discover the rich local history, of Clan Ranald and Macdonalds, available through local Moidart history group based at Glenuig by the shop. Day trips we also recommend, can be made to: Going south: to Ardnamurchan, you can take Island wildlife/fishing boat trips from Glen Borrowdale, or visit the lighthouse on the most westerly point of the mainland, for the view and also if your fortunate (best chance in calm conditions) to spot dolphins, a basking shark or maybe a Minkie whale! With the choice of stopping in on the way there or way back: at the Adelphi distillery, locall visitor centre, village of Kilhoan, and beautiful Sanna beach. Additionally, the passenger ferry trip from Kilchoan can take you to Tobermory on Mull, or book a boat trip from Kilhoan to the Treshnish Isles, to see sights like Fingal's Cave, and the puffins. Going East from Salen, you can visit the quite village of Stronian, and access in the well equiped Sunart centre, for music, the gym and sports hall. Also Strontian Hotel for food or a drink in the pub. Going north via Lochailort to the famous Glenfinnan viaduct (Harry potter) and Charlie's monument, (45mins) are very popular. Or even book well in advance a memorable trip on the steam train from Mallaig to Fort William. Fortwilliam (estimate 1hr drive) is the outdoor capital of the north, with a Gondola and mountain restaurant, champion mountain bike course, indoor climbing centre, ten pin bowling, shops etc, Ben Nevis, and the stealth falls up glen Nevis definitely worth a trip! Additionally, from Mallaig (50min) take a ferry trip to Isle of Skye to see the famous 'fairy pools' or 'Old man of Stoer'! At Arisaig, go on the Shearwater passenger ferry, for the chance of seeing minke whales, porpoises and dolphins on a sensational trip around the Inner Hebrides Isles of Eigg, Rhum, and Canna! For a trip to the beach, you can chose from White sands of Morar, or more locally walk to the Gorten 'singing sands'; or the Glenuig beach. To name but a few! Other activities accessed locally are kayaking, golf, all types of fresh and saltwater fishing, hunting, wildlife watching, hill walking, boat hire, mountain biking, swimming, or just chilling out! and enjoying the peace and quite. Whatever you plan? we will do our best to help and answer any questions, with local knowledge, to make sure you have a great holiday.
