Saartjie is a tiny historic thatched cottage where you'll feel at home. Guests are personally welcomed. You'll have the entire cottage and courtyard to yourself. The double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom (shower). The living room has 2 single beds, dining table and a TV (local channels). The kitchen is well equipped for budget-friendly self-catering. The courtyard with pergola offers barbecue facilities where guests can relax. Safe parking is provided. Not serviced daily. No DSTv. No Wi-Fi. This self-catering cottage is a National Monument. Built circa 1850, it housed farm workers. It has a thatched roof and is built of raw brick with lime wash exterior. Inside the cozy cottage you'll feel at home and relaxed...experience humble country living at it's best. Saartjie is ideal for a couple or a family with up to two children. Furnishings, linen and cupboards are neat. You'll have everything you need at hand. An ironing board and iron is provided. Guests should bring their own hair-dryer. Keep to your budget by preparing your own meals in the well equipped kitchen or outside at the traditional barbecue in the private courtyard. Linger under the pergola or explore the many gems Bredasdorp and the Overberg have to offer. Take a break, unwind and make memories. Guests enter the cottage by the front door or from the back of the cottage via the private courtyard. Guests may use the entire cottage and courtyard. Guests have a remote alarm control for the duration of their stay. Co-host Veronica Pieterse welcomes quests personally on arrival. She makes alternative arrangements if she is not available. Saartjie-cottage is situated in a peaceful, quiet neighborhood of Bredasdorp. Take a 5 to 10 minute walk to quaint shops and a coffee shop or two. Should you want to explore, think Shipwreck Museum, Bredasdorp Square, Kapula Candles, De Hoop Nature Reserve, Elim Wine Route, Tip of Africa... Heuningberg Nature Reserve, ideal for short hiking outings in indigenous fynbos vegetation, is within walking distance. Within 45 minutes' drive, guests can enjoy beaches, wine routes and game viewing. Bredasdorp CBD offers convenience and hardware stores, gift shops, salons, medical care practitioners and restaurants. We offer safe off-street parking on the premises. Park your vehicle under a pergola in the walled courtyard with lock-up gates. Satellite TV and Wi-fi is not available. The cottage is not serviced daily. The en suite bathroom has a shower with a narrow entrance, a basin vanity and a toilet. Note that winter months, May to October, can be wet and cold at times. Guests are advised to pack warm clothes. Load shedding might occur. A gas cooker, battery light and oil lamps are provided for use in such times.
