Situated in a peaceful neighborhood just eight minutes from the heart of downtown, Duende is excellent for groups or those traveling alone - a perfect home base for creating and exploring in the Big Bend region. Chill out in the hammock room or cozy up in front of a fire in the the great room! This home is family and pet friendly. Duende Marfa was originally built in 1945 with an addition in the 1980s that created a floorplan for entertaining. The home was recently updated throughout for comfort but retains the old school charm and character Marfa is known for. The master and second bedroom both have king sized beds with cotton sheets and down duvets. The third bedroom features two twin sized day-beds, and the hammock room also has a twin daybed to sleep a seventh guest if desired. The guest bathroom is a jack-and-jill between bedrooms two and three, and features a stall shower. The master bathroom is a full bath with tub, as well as a bluetooth speaker. Both bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The kitchen has been updated with all new Samsung appliances and features a gas stove. Sufficient cookware to prepare most meals is in the cupboards. There are two living spaces, the large great room has a fireplace for cold nights as well as a 4k smart TV equipped with Roku and DishTV. Finally, a hammock hangs in the room right off of the kitchen, perfect for reading or enjoying a glass of wine. PET POLICY: - pets must be approved at the time of booking. Please specify number of dogs, breed, and age in your booking inquiry. We cannot accommodate cats. - A $45 fee per pet is due upon booking, maximum of 3 dogs permitted at the house. - dogs must be crated if left alone at the home. An extra-large crate is available on premises for your convenience. - Pets are not allowed on beds or furniture. - Guests are responsible for picking up after pets and making sure yard is clear of droppings. Duende Marfa is located in the North West Washington Heights neighborhood of Marfa, TX. We are only an 8 minute walk from Marfa’s main street and also 1 block away from beautiful ranch views that look west. It is very easy to walk to any of Marfa’s fantastic restaurants, and equally easy to take a stroll under the stars away from city lights. We are located on a hill with some distance from the train tracks, so the neighborhood is quieter than other areas in town. One of Duende's next-door neighbors runs a foster effort for local cats and kittens. These cats are very gregarious and will more than likely visit the front and back yard during your stay. Walking is your best bet if you are planning for a night on the town, everything is close in Marfa! There are bike rentals available in front of Marfa Public Radio and Hotel Paisano, as well as occasionally a LYFT / UBER driver available during the larger festival weekends (Transpecos etc.) Please be aware that refunds will not be issued for insect sightings. We work extremely hard to keep this property clean for our guests, and ask that you be considerate of the fact that 1) Marfa is in the high desert 2) the adobe homes Marfa is so well known for are porous by nature. At certain times of the year insects (including spiders, water bugs, flies, and scorpions) are more active, and may may appear within the house on rare occasions. This is not something we can 100% guard against, and it has nothing to do with lack of cleanliness! If you have a serious phobia of insects and arachnids, please do not book this location. That being said, this space DOES NOT have an insect problem, and this disclaimer is only meant to protect us in in the very rare case of sightings.
