In our flat in the White House we offer 6 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a large living-dining room. In the rooms there are 2 beds each, in the Künstlerzimmer 1 possibility of extra bed, in the Magnatenzimmer further 2. In the house is otherwise only a small village museum. The apartment is spacious and cozy, the rooms are furnished with antiques, but have new beds. All floors are wooden. The apartment is ideal for family and friend meetings. The apartment is located on the upper floor of the White House, the Village Museum on the ground floor. You reach the apartment via a staircase house (15 steps). The host family owns the house and lives in the adjacent Johannniterburg. The White House is part of the Johanniter Castle Kühndorf, a medieval castle from the 14th century. The castle can be visited during the opening hours. Guided tours are possible for groups of 15 persons by arrangement at any time. The village Kühndorf is located at the foot of the Dolmar, which is a popular hiking and excursion destination with its 740 m. On the mountain you can stop by the Charlottenhaus and enjoy the fabulous view or book a scenic flight at the mountain-based Dolmar flying school. The former residence city of Meiningen, which is about 8 kilometers away, offers not only a nationally known theater but also a multitude of cultural opportunities, such as the castle of Elisabethenburg or the theater museum, but also something extraordinary, such as the last large-scale maintenance work for steam locomotives in Western Europe. The central location of Kühndorf next to the A71 allows short-term visits to Eisennach, Erfurt and Weimar in Thuringia, but also Coburg, Schweinfurt, Bad Neustadt, Bad Kissingen and the wine region around Hammelburg in Bavaria can be reached in about an hour. The attractive landscape in the transition between Rhön and Thuringian Forest invites you to hike in summer and winter sports in Oberhof or Schmiedefeld about half an hour away.
