Suikerbos: Luxury room in our Guesthouse equipped with two single beds (percale linen) and it's own bathroom with shower. The room has a television with DSTV, a mini kitchenette and stunning mountain views from the bed. Barbeque on patio. The Kogman & Keisie Guest Farm is nestled between the charming village of Montagu and the mountains of Montagu Nature Reserve in the Klein Karoo. The name of the farm is derived from the dramatic Cogmans Kloof Valley and the modest Keisie River that meets here. We provide guests with luxury self-catering and guesthouse accommodation. The cottages and rooms are stylish and each of them is unique. We take pride in developing our farm and cottages into eco-friendly living spaces and accommodation. A hearty farm breakfast is included for guesthouse guests and all guests are allowed to share in farm produce when available. Kogman and Keisie is also a working farm with olive trees, farm animals and a small vineyard. We grow our own vegetables, pomegranates, and lavender and enjoy fresh farm eggs from our faithful hens daily. Our handful of sheep, ducks and geese complete the picture. During the hot summer days, we cool down in the swimming pool or wait for the sun to make way for the unsurpassable Karoo night sky, to the whisper of the windmill turning in the lazy evening breeze. In winter, keep cozy and warm and witness the sun colouring the early morning mist with an array of orange, pink and yellows. Guests are welcome to explore the whole property! My wife and I love helping guests with information and tips. When we are not here our staff is also available. More about Montagu The community with heart in the heart of Route 62 Montagu, the Gateway to the Karoo, is a village with soul. Here you will find a community of smiles and sunshine, people who ask how you are - and wait for the answer, people who quickly progress from acquaintances to friends. Once voted Village of the Year, not only for the gorgeous views, beautiful architecture and excellent Hot Springs - but for the homeliness and hospitality of our people that set us apart from the rest. You will find us a mere hop, skip and a jump from Cape Town - which makes us an excellent weekend destination at only 200kms distant. Or mosey along on a lazy weekend drive to visit one of our fine restaurants, view our historic sites, or take a wander around our bustling Village Market on a Saturday morning. Architecture Steeped In History A stroll through the village will introduce you to its fascinating architecture and historic buildings. You can enjoy some of the best-preserved homes from the ox-wagon days just along Long street - in fact we have the most national monuments in one street than any other town in the country. We have an interesting heritage - once upon a time, we even had our own currency! Discover this in our fine museums in Long Street. Daytime Activities Wine is one of our best-kept secrets - you will find over 45 different cellars offering some of the finest wines money can buy. We pride ourselves on being unpretentious - so, you'll actually find us encouraging you to enjoy your tasting and not spit out the fruits of our labours.... You could even go on the new and fast growing Route 62 Wine Tours, so no need to drive after the winetasting! There are also really picturesque river boat cruises on the Breede River such as The River Goose and Viljoensdrift and more than one tractor trip to take you up into the mountains for the most scenic views and best experience of your life! Scenic Walks And Outdoor Activities There are many scenic walks, nature trails and mountain hikes in and around Montagu. The healing waters of our magical hot springs have kept us famous for well over 150 years. Today you won't have to cross the river eight times in an ox-wagon to get through Cogman's Kloof to be able to experience them! For the outdoor enthusiasts, we have some of the best rock-climbing the country has to offer, great mountain biking, scenic hikes and fantastic trails. Go batty at Guano Caves, check out the many bird species - without having to leave the centre of the Village - and if you are after the Big Five, well, we have some of the finest Game Farms nearby. When night falls, enjoy the stars with a glass of our famous muscadel, or a decadent dinner at one of our fine restaurants. Despite our laid-back attitude, we really do get down to business - and everything you ever needed you will find in our Village or on Montagu's doorstep. Several fine supermarkets, every kind of business - from agriculture to health and wellness - is available here. We are all things to all people - so come to Montagu to discover why we are fast becoming the place for folks who need to escape the rat race! Town centre is close to our farm and it's even possible to walk (15min) or cycle (5min) to town. Please note we have dogs that will probably come greet you as you arrive. Their names are Lassie, Kabouter and Miena. They are all very friendly and love people, especially kids!
