Captain's Retreat

Retiro do Capitão is set in a large lawned garden, with many shade trees and a paved terrace for outdoor dining and a terrace in front for watching the sun rise with your morning coffee. The beautiful stone house has an open-plan lounge / diner with a double sofabed. The well equipped kitchen leads off this and there is a second sink unit outside the back door. The double bedroom has ample storage in it's large wardrobe and the bunk room can be used by 1 or 2 adults, or up to 3 children. The large private garden surrounding the house is mostly lawn, with plenty of play space. Badminton and table tennis equipment are provided. Retiro Capitão has a breath-taking view of the neighboring island of Pico, with it's classic cone reaching 2351 meters into the sky. The locals say you can predict the weather by observing the clouds around it's peak. Pedro Miguel is just 10 minutes by car from the main town of Horta, where you can experience the thrill of a whale watching trip, explore the island on a jeep safari, visit the whaling museum, hire bicycles for a thrilling downhill ride from the caldeira and much more ... The house is privately owned by a French family, who very much appreciate people treating the house well, and leaving it as they found it. Kitchen and appliances must be left clean and tidy, dishes done and stowed, dishwasher emptied, garbage disposed of. The house is located in a family friendly neighborhood and regular quiet hours are appreciated. Pets are not allowed and smoking should be restricted to outside the house.
