Gite in Rural South West france with Amazing Views - peaceful but not isolated.
There are four Gites at Le Poujols which have been fashioned from a Traditional Quercy Stone Barn. Each gite is completely self contained and they are comfortably furnished and well equipped. Gite Lavande is cosy and compact with an open plan kitchen/living/dining room and one bedroom with double bed. There is a shower room with glass shower enclosure and basin and a WC. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric oven and four ring electric hob, plus a microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle fridge and dishwasher and all cutlery, crockery glasses and cooking utensils. Outside, you will fine a small terrace area, which is furnished for al fresco dining and has its own charcoal barbeque. From the terrace you have a lovely view across the valley towards the village of SALVIAC, just two kilometres distant. In addition, there is a communal covered barbeque area and summer kitchen, overlooking the pool, where you will find tourist information, a selection of books and games and a lovely place to relax and socialise in the setting evening sun. The communal area also houses a washing machine available for the use of the guests, a small charge applies as water is precious and is metered. Detergent is supplied. Gite Lavande has electric heating and is suitable all year round. The four properties share the pool, which is fenced and alarmed with terrace and decking. Sun loungers with cushions, and parasols are provided for the comfort of our guests. The property is set in 14 acres of private grounds, much of it wooded, and we have direct access to miles of foot and cycle paths. On a small lane with no passing traffic, Le Poujols is peaceful and tranquil but not isolated. The Village of Salviac has bars, butcher, baker, supermarket, post office, bank, hairdressers, pharmacy and medical centre. It also has a friendly, informal restaurant which offers a pizza takeaway service. There is a small weekly market. Gourdon, the nearest town is only 13 kilometres to the east and has bars, restaurants, and shops and larger supermarkets. Cazals with its Sunday Market full of local produce is only 7 kilometres to the west. Sarlat, a lively old town, cobbled streets, bustling Saturday market and many bars and restaurants is only 30 minutes drive to the north, crossing the Dordogne River at Cenac, where you can easily hire a canoe and take a leisurely trip down the river.
