Stunning views overlooking Oualie Bay and The Narrows To St Kitts
Tucked into the hillside 200 feet above the sea, a 5 minute walk to the beach, this seaside cottage offers a fabulous retreat away from it all. We have had wonderful year after year return guests (some as long as 12 years) stay at the Cottage over the past years, so there have been years when the Cottage was completely booked and we have not had it posted on VRBO. As life situations change for people, this upcoming winter we have some weeks available so we have again been able to post on VRBO/Homeaway. As a result of this being considered a "new listing" again, VRBO does not provide the opportunity to transfer reviews from past years. And since our returning guests book directly with us, they do not have an opportunity to post a review. We look forward to posting reviews after welcoming some newly booked guests in the 2021/22 winter season. The studio offers stunning views of the Oualie Bay area over to St Kitt's across the Narrows overlooking the forest canopy and more than 800 sq ft of inside and outside living space including a fully screened porch with dining table and second living area. Surrounded by trees, you can enjoy the gentle winds and gorgeous views from anywhere in the cottage. You may even spot some vervet monkeys in the trees while sitting on the porch. The cottage is located in one of the most exclusive areas on the island on Ridge Road. The location is within 1 KM of 4 beaches, some of the best restaurants on the island including Four Season's Hotel, the newly renovated and expanded Gin Trap just around the corner, Yachtsman's Restaurant, Indian Summer and Oualie Beach Hotel with all the water sport and cycling amenities available at the bottom of the road. The kitchen is fully equipped with new silestone counters, a miele cooktop, full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, and dishwasher. A propane BBQ is available on the outside porch. The inside living space consists of a living area with couch and 2 chairs and a king size bed that can be converted into 2 twin beds. The cottage also comes fully equipped with quality linens and towels to enjoy during your stay. Cable TV, wifi internet and guest cell phone are also provided. Weekly housekeeping is provided for stays longer than 1 week. The cottage has a large ceiling fan in the inside area and 2 fans with lights in the outside screened in porch area. We usually have a nice trade wind that blows, so that alone keeps things cool along with all the vegetation around the cottage that helps with cooling things too. There isn’t any formal garden area to sit in outside as the cottage is tucked into the hill overlooking Oualie Bay, but there is a separate outside unscreened porch area that you can sit on and enjoy the views to the ocean. In terms of the beaches, all the beaches are public on Nevis, and lots of people not staying in the hotel use the Oualie Beach Hotel beach area again as long as the hotel is not really busy and if you order something to drink or eat they would be very happy that you are there. We also have some little beach chairs that you can use to take to the beach while you are here. In addition, ChriShi Beach Restaurant is just 1 mile from the cottage heading toward town and has a fabulous beach area, and Yachtsman Restaurant a little closer to town has beautiful beach area with lounge chairs and offers breakfast lunch and dinner. There are 2 hotels & 1 restaurant/beach in the area that have pools Nisbet Plantation and Mount Nevis Hotel, and Double Deuce restaurant. Mount Nevis has a great pool. I think again if you ordered something to drink and possibly eat, they would be happy for you to sit around the pool - I would not hesitate to ask as people are usually very accommodating and especially if the hotel is not busy. Double Deuce restaurant is on Pinney's Beach close to town (where other restaurant/beach bars are located - Lime, Turtle Time, and Sunshine's) next to the Four Season's Hotel. Pinney's is a great beach area and they have a little pool. There are flights directly into Nevis, but if you are arriving to Nevis from St Kitt’s there are a number of ferries available to get you over to Nevis. In addition, there are private water taxis we can help you arrange to take from the South Penninsula of St Kitt's that bring you directly to the dock at Oualie Beach where we will meet you and bring you up the hill to the cottage. It is a 10 minute taxi ride from St. Kitt’s airport to the main ferry docks in Basseterre, then about a 40 minute ferry ride to Nevis (depending on the ferry you get on). Or the private water taxi is a 25 minute taxi ride to the South Penninsula on St Kitt's and a 5 minute water taxi ride over to Nevis. We are always available to our guests during their stay - we are just a Whats App phone call away or our property manager Sonia is always available to help you out during your stay. A 14 day booking is a required minimum during the festive season. TRAVEL TO NEVIS REQUIREMENTS DURING THE PANDEMIC: Effective Oct 7, 2021 the St Kitts & Nevis government reduced the quarantine period to 1-day for visitors who are double vaccinated for Covid and you may be able to quarantine in the house for the required 1-day. The following outlines the process you will need to follow if you want to visit Nevis. This is a link to the most recent information posted on the Nevis Island Administration website: https://nia.gov.kn/ministries/health/nevis-health-promotion-unit/2019-novel-coronavirus-ncov/#travel-guide In order to visit Nevis you will need to apply to the Nevis Covid Task Force directly and request permission to enter the country. All travellers must complete this application. The application form is located at: https://www.knatravelform.kn You need to be fully vaccinated in order to enter the country so you will need to provide that information for all travellers in your party to the Task Force You can apply to do the 1-day quarantine at the house but there will be an additional charge of $250EC for the fee the government charges to conduct a home inspection prior to them granting approval for you to quarantine at the house. The house address is 13 Ridge Road, Jones Estate, St Thomas Parish, Nevis. The page for requesting the home quarantine is https://covid19.gov.kn/home-quarantine/ The Task Force will then complete a house inspection and inform you if this has been approved for your quarantine. I don’t expect there will be a problem at all as we quarantined there last year. You will need a Covid PCR test completed within 72-hours of arrival which you will need to upload to the site. Please note that they are specific that this is a PCR test and not a rapid test or any other form of a Covid test. After uploading your negative results you will receive a confirmation approval to enter the country. You will need this in order to be allowed entry into the country regardless of whether you stay in a private home or hotel. It is recommended that you also review the travel requirements for the airline you are travelling on to St Kitts or Nevis. Once you arrive in St Kitts/Nevis they will ask for your approval notification. Upon exiting the airport in St Kitts we can arrange for a Covid approved taxi to take you to the water taxi dock. We can also arrange for the Covid approved private water taxis on St Kitts’s to bring you over to Nevis. In addition, we can arrange a Covid approved land taxi to take you up to the house (which is just up the hill from the dock). If you are arriving in Nevis we can arrange for a Covid approved land taxi to take you to the house. I can also inquire to see if the rental car can be left for you to drive to the house from the dock or the Nevis airport. You are allowed to bring food items with you but if you want to have any food provisions or meals provided for the first day or so, this can be arranged too.
