The Blue Room is a cosy retreat situated right in the heart of Ísafjörður and perfect as a base for exploring the Westfjords. Set in the historical building known as The Old Sheriff's House, it was built in 1930 as the formal offices and home of the local sheriff. It is now our family home where we live and we look forward to welcoming you as our guests. We also have a place in Akureyri that we think you'll love, check out our listings from the Red House by clicking our profile picture below. We are a married couple who live in the house and our grown up son lives there as well, so you'll normally be sharing the house with us and sometimes also with other guests. Our house is three storeys high plus the basement. On the ground floor there is the lounge/living room and kitchen as well as a second lounge with a professional massage chair. Up on the first floor you will find your room and a bathroom. The top floor is currently being renovated. Our motto is: mi casa es su casa, in other words we want you to feel at home during your stay. Apart from the bedroom, you can use the lounge/living room and kitchen if you want to cook something and of course the bathrooms on both floors. There are three of us in our family, Smári, Laufey and our grown up son Steinþór. At least one of us will usually be around to assist you if you need anything and we are also just a phone call or a message away. Situated in downtown Ísafjörður, you are walking distance from just about anything. The restaurant "Húsið" is literally next door to us. The town square is within a five minute walk from our house, as well as "Bakarinn" bakery, "Mamma Nína" pizzeria, "Thai Tawee" restaurant, Nettó supermarket, "Hamraborg" diner and "Gamla bakaríið" bakery. A few minutes further down the main road, you will find "Edinborgarhúsið" restaurant and a few steps further the legendary "Tjöruhúsið" fish restaurant (open from April to November) situated by the maritime museum. Icelandic people love swimming. The local indoor swimming pool is a five minute walk, the Bolungarvík outdoor/indoor swimming pool is a twenty minute drive, so is the Suðureyri geothermal outdoor pool. The surrounding area is an outdoor paradise with plenty of hiking trails, kayaking, horse back riding, whale watching, boat trips to Hornstrandir nature reserve and skiing in winter. Walking will get you far but not everywhere. The villages nearby can be reached by bus and there is also a car rental at the airport. Tourist Information situated in the "Edinborgarhúsið" will have the most up to date schedules. We are currently renovating parts of the house. This might sometimes cause some noise during the daytime, but not in the evenings or at night.
