This 3 bedroom cottage, in Bagamoyo's old town is 5 minutes walk away from the beach. It has high beamed ceilings and is designed around a walled courtyard with a shaded outdoor eating space. The cottage has two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and one single bedroom with a bathroom next to it and coming off the lounge. There are ceiling fans in every room. There's a cooker, fridge/freezer and a washing machine in the kitchen. The house is in the bustling old town and 5 mins walk from the beach, the market and a few lovely restaurants. It is easy to feel part of the community. Guests are able to park within a walled garden. A night watchman is employed to look after your car and the house. Jackie the housekeeper will meet you and show you around the house on arrival. We will call to check everything is alright, when you arrive and can be reached any time, by phone. This is a sleepy traditional fishing village, on the Indian Ocean. Within 10 mins of the house you can walk to the bustling fish market; or visit the fort or the historical slave caravan. Poa Poa restaurant, 2 minutes away serves delicious coffee and traditional chapati wraps. Firefly is also 2 minutes away and offers free internet, a pool and children's play area as well as a trendy bar. Nashe's restaurant is similarly 2 mins away and offers, amongst other things, Karioke on a Friday Night. Pizza Fresh, a 10 min walk away makes delicious pizzas which they can deliver as 'take out', Fresh bread is baked and served from the nearby Millenium Hotel. The oldest church in East Africa, and a salt farm are a short 10 mins tuk tuk ride away. A craft market is situated in the old slave market, and the town is brimming with artists, dancers and musicians, as Bagamoyo is the Arts capital of Tanzania. There's a lovely beach at both ends of the Bay - with deck chairs to sit on outside New Bagamoyo Beach Resort or enjoy a wilder feel to the beach infront of the Bagamoyo Country Club. There's lots of shells and when the tide is out, children will enjoy crab hunting or exploring the sand bank. There are many places that hire out bikes and you could take a bike ride to the crocodile farm, Kaole Snake Park and the old ruins 15 mins away. Further afield, Sadani National Park and Kunduchi Beach water slides make for good day trips out. If you like BBQ'd meat then booking a day out at the Mango Farm 'Ndotondoto Pole Pole near the Baobab School. This delicious restaurant not only offers wonderful food, but a lovely landscaped pool and green field for football! Most places in Bagamoyo can be reached on foot but there are also lots of tuk tuks and bicyles that can be hired. Our home is situated in Old town Bagamoyo near three mosques and during Ramadan, in particular, it can be noisy at night. The fishermen also take their breakfast around 6am at a cafe just outside the house and they tell lots of loud and humorous stories first thing in the morning!
