On the other hand, if you are looking for a charming, 200 year old stone built house with a touch of romance, filled with artefacts, books and memories of the past, then this house just could be it! Of course the house has wifi, air-conditioning and the essential amenities you need to make your stay enjoyable. The feeling of security and safety in the village allows you to sleep in the hot summer nights with the windows open if you don't want to use the air-conditiong. Why not try the hammock outdoors? Panayiotis house is on two levels. The lower level has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The impressive master bedroom has a large double bed with an ensuite bathroom and shower. The second specious and lovely bedroom has two single beds which can be put together to make a large double. Both these bedrooms lead out onto a shady terrace, have air-conditioning and fans. The third cosy bedroom has a single bed, but that can be adapted to become bunk beds for two children, this room has a fan. All the bedrooms have mosquito nets, the windows have shutters. The main bathroom has a bath. In the large open area at the bottom of the stairs, that leads up to the living room/kitchen, there is a built-in sofa/ bed. It is an ideal place to relax and/or can be used as a work spot. The upper floor of the house is a spacious bright living room/kitchen which opens out onto two separate terraces, both of which have marvellous views to the Aegean Sea and the mountains. The kitchen has a cooker, fridge-freezer, kettle, coffee maker, toaster and in fact everything you need to cook at home if you so wish. The living room has a ceiling fan. The house has a washing machine on the lower level. In the garden is an outdoor shower, perfect for when you come back from the beach. Bedding and towels are provided, including beach towels. A baby cot and a high chair are available if needed. You can park a car quite close to the house (free of charge). From the house you can walk down (10 min) to the centre of the village, where you will find quite a few tavernas, cafes, and several shops. PANAYIOTIS can also be an ideal retreat for remote workers, digital nomads or writers; for longer rentals the price is negotiable. The house is fully licensed by the GTO (Greek Tourist Organisation). Volissos is built on a hill nestling underneath a Genoese castle. The village looks south out across the blue waters of the Aegean. As you sit on your terrace enjoying the mountains slowly turning pink in the last rays of the sun, or as you wander around the village as it winds down from the castle, you quickly realize that Volissos is still very much a traditional village. It is 2 km from the little harbour and marina of Limnia and the nearest beaches of Lefkathia and Limnos, both of which have a beach bar (the use of the umbrellas and sun loungers are free). Just a little further away is the 6 km long Managros beach, where it is always easy to find a quiet spot to enjoy the crystal clear waters of the Aegean sea. Apart from these, whichever way you go up or down the coast, there are numerous beaches to choose from. Volissos lies on the north west coast of the island of Chios, 40 km from the main town, port and airport. The village has two mini markets, a butcher, a baker and even a candle maker. A green grocer comes around three times a week selling produce out of the back of his pickup though you can find fruit and vegetables in the local shops. Also local fishermen come around with the catch of the day. There is a Pharmacy, Post Office, Police Station and ATM machine. Volissos has a small clinic with a doctor always available 24/7. I can help to arrange car/jeep/scooter or a bicycle rental on request. A bus service runs 3 times a week between Volissos and Chios town. Chiots are passionate and live life to the fullest, even at difficult times. The result is an island seemingly riddled with challenges, yet full of people loving life.
