Apartment with beautiful view for 2 persons (a cot is available). Living room/kitchen, bathroom, bedroom. Hiking, cross-country skiing, skiing in the nature of Schnett. We speak German, Dutch and English. Your pet is very welcome (two or three smaller ones are also no problem). The apartment is at the back of the main house. The beautiful Schnetter church stops ringing at night. The living rooms still radiate some GDR charm. We would actually like to preserve some of it. However, the furnishings are modern and functional overall. ATTENTION: The bedroom is on the first floor under the roof (few slopes). In winter it doesn't get 20 degrees up there (but around 16). But no worries: Duvets and bed linen are of course warm and cosy. The apartment is located behind a former restaurant building. In the main house there is still the gastro-kitchen. If you want to prepare something "big", you are welcome in this kitchen with gas cooker. At the back of the main house is the entrance to the laundry room with washing machine, dryer and clothes horse (rotary dryer in the garden). This is all at your disposal. We have two garages, one of which you can use. If you feel like it, you can work with us in the vegetable garden during the summer months and also help with the harvest. In the immediate vicinity of the village there are some old fruit trees that are freely accessible. Berries and mushrooms are abundant in the forest. Schnett is a village with 500 inhabitants on the southern side of the Thuringian Forest. The inhabitants are friendly and used to holidaymakers (Schnett was a holidaymaker stronghold until the Wende). The village is situated in a horseshoe shape on a mountain slope at an altitude of about 700 metres. There is a well-stocked supermarket with parcel post, a general practitioner, a hotel where you can use the swimming pool and sauna at low cost (6 € per person, tickets can be purchased from us) and where you can also relax at the bar. The Rennsteig is only about 5 km away. Around Schnett there are numerous hiking trails with varying degrees of difficulty. On our local mountain, the Simmersberg, there is a groomed cross-country ski trail, a toboggan run and beautiful viewpoints. At a distance of 3 km there is a ski slope with ski lift, snowmaking and ski school (all perfectly suitable also for beginners, ski rental in the hotel). Further shopping facilities are available in Eisfeld (approx. 12 km), Schleusingen (approx. 20 km) and Hildburghausen. Suhl is also not far away. The surrounding area (and Thuringia as a whole) has much to offer in the way of sights and culture, but above all undisturbed nature. The motorway connection is good. There is a bus stop in Schnett that is served regularly. From Suhl it is relatively easy to get to Schnett by bus. You can park your car/motorbike in front of the house or in one of our garages. As there are some steps inside the apartment (11 up to the bedroom, 3 into the living room, 1 in the hallway) and also ONE of the entrances has steps (22), you should be good on your feet (and possibly be able to carry your dachshund :-) ).
