Mallard is a luxury heated lakeside cabin, designed and built on site. Curl up under a cosy throw on the super comfortable double bed (400 thread count sheets), or choose from seating areas inside, on the deck overlooking the lake, or by the fire pit with its inbuilt barbecue. Browse the internet using our fast broadband. Your own luxury shower room and toilet are a short walk away. As well as Mallard we have another lakeside cabin, Greylag (also on Airbnb). Isolation in beautiful countryside in the heart of England. We have stripped our cabins down to the essentials, so you can relax and savour the beauty of the natural surroundings. We won't interrupt. The nearest railway station is Market Harborough, less than an hour from London St Pancras and four miles from the farm. Taxi fare from the station is under £10. Our farm lies in an historic area, near to the site of the Battle of Naseby. There is lots to see within a short drive, and the Jurassic Way footpath cuts through the farm. Mallard is an ecological cabin, fully insulated, with heat and hot water solar powered (with electrical back up). Tea, coffee and a cool box are provided but you'll need to bring all of your own food, or drive to nearby pubs and restaurants to eat. The multi award winning farm shop cafe 'Farndon Fields' (farm shop restaurant of the year 2016) is a short drive away. Drinking water is available from a tap by the front door. You can BBQ on your own fire pit (the only cooking facilities). Logs from our woodland can be purchased on site. With prior agreement from Chris, the Farm Manager, you can walk, or cycle, on safe tracks around the farm. Marston Lodge is a working farm and so this will not always be possible. You can also fish (with your own rods) on either of the two lakes. Chris, or one of the team will greet you at the Farm Office and take you down to Mallard on arrival. The Welland Valley is great for outdoor activities, e.g. walking, cycling, gliding, fishing and bird watching. The unspoilt countryside is rich in historic sites, country houses, local food & drink producers and picturesque towns. You will need to drive or cycle if you wish to go out to eat. You can reach the farm by taking a train to Market Harborough and then a taxi. Although there aren't any toilet or shower facilities within Mallard itself, your own personal toilet and shower room is a short walk of 150 metres away. Mallard is situated at the edge of a lake. Walking around the lake is at your own risk and swimming is not allowed. We regret that we cannot accept pets.
