Regardless of the purpose of your visit Light of Dorcol is ideal choice for business people, families or those who just want to explore our beautiful city. Dorcol is the neighborhood where things happen and in the same time represents the oldest and the most prominent part of the city. It roughly can be divided in two sections, Gornji (or upper) Dorcol (formerly known as Zerek) and Donji (or lower) Dorcol, formerly called Jalija, which occupies the area all the way to the right bank of the Danube. The name of the neighborhood comes from Turkish words dört (four) and yol (road), literally meaning "four roads" or colloquially "intersection (of four roads)", "crossroads". Dorcol holds a special place in the hearts of Belgradians. As one of the oldest city quarters, it has always been a part of the city that stands out from other areas. Its history tells the story of a cosmopolitan Belgrade where several different nations lived together in peace and understanding. Anybody who lived or still lives in Belgrade has at least once dreamed to have their own apartment there.Living in Dorcol has its charms, it could be like living in Kreuzberg in Berlin or Manhattan in NYC. You might even hear people calling it ‘the Manhattan of Belgrade’, although we wouldn't go that far. For some Dorcol is a status symbol, like a Louis Vuitton bag or Burberry trench coat....Enjoy unique atmosphere of Dorcol.... 100m from our accommodation you will found oldest and most beautiful Belgrade park , Kalemegdan fortress and few hundred meters after promenade where Sava river confluence to river Danube. Dorcol Culture and nearby place to visit.....Kalemegdan fortress park , National museum , The Museum of Vuk and Dositej , The Museums of Science and Technology , Nikola Tesla Museum , Etnographic museum in Belgrade , The Museum of Theatrical Arts of Serbia , Kalemegdan Military Museum & Gallery Of The Natural History Museum , medieval Kalemegdan church Ruzica and Sveta Petka chapel , Bayraklee mosque ( Belgrade was full of mosques once , now, only this one remains, the last religious legacy of the Turks who ruled here. ) , Kalemegdan Astronomical Society Rudjer Boskovic located in adapted Despot's Tower and society planetarium in the lower part of Kalemegdan fortress, in a former Turkish bath. RESTAURANTS & BAR'S & CLUB'S: Part of Dorcol known as Skadarlija is considered the main bohemian quarter of Belgrade, and is often referred to as ‘the Montmartre of Belgrade’. The history of Skadarlija began in the 1830s with the settlement of Gypsies in the abandoned trenches in front of the ramparts. The Skadarlija restaurants are proud of their guest lists of worldwide celebrities who have visited them over the decades. Even Alfred Hitchcock ended his diet in Skadarlija . Often, they post photographs of their visits on the walls. For example, over the years, Tri šešira has welcomed numerous famous guests such as guitarist Jimi Hendrix, politicians George H.W. Bush, Josip Broz Tito, King Juan Carlos I of Spain, Sandro Pertini, chess player Anatoly Karpov & many others. Traditional Serbian restaurants (kafana) serve domestic dishes, the most prominent are: Dva Jelena , Tri Šešira, Zlatni Bokal and Ima dana.
