Handy for South West Coast Path Village and Pubs.
A residential area 700 metres from the south west coast path, by Boscaswell Village off Pendeen, just over a mile from the lighthouse. Just a modest and affordable stop for coast path hikers and bikers, not a hotel! 5 minutes to pubs, convenience store, cafe, chippy, historic Geevor mine. Peaceful at night. Cycle/Motorcycle garage Light breakfast is included (cereals, toast, etc) and Sue is always happy to lay on a cooked breakfast by arrangement for a small extra. Please treat the shared bathroom as your own, as the hosts have a separate loo etc. We have to repeat again that this isn't a hotel, it is a home sharing a spare room. There is an outdoors smoking area, and dogs live here, and we are a popular stop for walkers, hikers and bikers from all over the world. If you are looking for a hotel experience this isn't going to be your thing. Gardens are a shared space, the rear garden is shared with our dogs (when they are awake) Do feel free to use the microwave, coffee machine, air fryer etc. We have well behaved Greyhounds in the house. They are normally very quiet as a breed, and leave guests alone, this is their home as well so if you really don't like dogs it's probably not the place for you! They are re-homed retired racers. You have a private room, any time of day use of the shared bathroom, treat it as your own, you won't be disturbed as we have just had a separate loo put in. Use of basic kitchen facilities, outside seating area at rear (part of walled garden which is a work in progress), a garage for cycles/motorcycles, with air and toolbox. Washer and drier in the garage by arrangement for a donation. The dining area is part of the lounge diner. Here to meet you when you arrive, there is usually someone around during the day if you need anything as Sue works from home. You are welcome to smoke outside if you want to, we don't smoke inside. Or just enjoy a coffee or cup of tea in the garden if the weather is nice. Do make yourself at home. We are very easy going. For Cyclists and Bikers we also have a secure garage with room for up to two additional motorcycles or cycles. We respect our guest's privacy, we are quite sociable if you want to tell us about your day or ask any questions about the area, but we are very happy to let you enjoy your stay in the way you want to. The area is "Poldark" country, a world heritage site, AONB (area of outstanding natural beauty) with a tin mining heritage, also an Area of Great Historic Value, Heritage Coast, on the Tin Coast trail and with a genuine old smugglers cove close by. We're also on the South West Coast Path, the TET (Trans Europe Trail) , a key point in the European Heritage Trail, and on our way to becoming a Dark Skies Reserve. Pendeen is on the rugged north coast of West Cornwall. Great for a break from the south west coast path or or as a base for a few days exploring wild West Cornwall. Well located for exploring west Cornwall. The coastal path section between us and St Ives has many changes in elevation, and Pendeen is an "oasis" for many after a gruelling slog up and down coves and cliffs heading west. It can be a brutal stretch in the winter months. The village has two pubs and a good local stores, we are close to the coastal path and the village. For guests taking a break and stopping over for more than one night there are many local walks and facilities where you can recharge and relax. Five minutes in any direction and you are in rugged natural Cornwall, still virtually unspoiled. Great at any time of year. Our area is in the process of becoming a "Dark Skies" reserve too, so it is a rather special place. Within a few minutes walk you can find Cornish hedges from Neolithic times and the area is surrounded by Ancient stones, circles, quoits, fougos, wells and forts. You won't find King Arthur's ashtray in a gift shop in these parts. Take time to soak up the history, all around us is a beautiful place whichever direction you head out - the cliffs, the countryside or to the ancient stones. You are near the extreme end of Britain here, glorious and rugged in the winter, beautiful in the summer. Bus stop (service A17) is just a few yards away for St Just, Penzance or St Ives. The B3306 is a great ride on a bike, or by car, there is even an open top bus in the summer months, it is a famously scenic road in both directions and featured in many TV programmes. Pendeen itself boasts two great pubs with good food, a super little Tapas cafe, chip shop, post office, a free car park, a pottery and gallery, and well stocked convenience store, it is a thriving village with a great community. Less than three miles down the road is St Just, well worth a visit. Car parking is also free in St. Just. The Geevor tin mine and cafe are close by. And more free parking. Easy walking distance of the house. Around 10 to 15 minutes walk away in Trewellard there is a Meadery for great casual food (booking advised in summer) and yet another great pub. There is also a fuel station and garage in Trewellard, regular petrol (not super) and diesel. Bikers please ask Kev about the local routes and local bike meets and local roads. If you are travelling with your dog(s) have a chat with Sue. We can dog-sit if needed and we have some "dog day out" gear available (water bowls etc). Breakfast: Cereals, toast, tea and coffee etc for breakfast, and i'm happy to make a full cooked breakfast if you let me know what you'd like the night before for a small charge. It's a family home where the two of us live with our dogs, not a "hotel". If you really don't like dogs it's probably not the place for you! Our greyhounds are well behaved and normally quiet
