At Bailey's Retreat we offer four separate cottages, a Farmhouse, and this Cabin expanding over 50 rustic acres. You'll have access to the pavilion with outdoor Chimney and lawn terrace for sunset viewing. Welcome to Bailey's Retreat, a respite from the rat race. Time stands still in our charming Civil War-era log cabin where Stonewall Jackson once enjoyed the panoramic Blue Ridge Mountain and Brown's Gap Valley views. The cabin is "unplugged" please enjoy a break from wifi. Perched on 50 rustic acres in Ivy, Virginia, seven miles west of Charlottesville and seven miles east of Crozet, Bailey's Retreat offers scenic serenity for nature lovers, artists, writers, sportsmen or city slickers who simply want to unwind. Or not. Mere minutes from the University of Virginia, Monticello, Skyline Drive, Wintergreen, wineries and breweries, the cabin conveniently sits in the center of regional tourist attractions that fan out in four directions. Lovingly and rustically restored, our 600sf cabin features an original stone fireplace, ladder-accessed queen sleeping loft, micro-kitchen, and a charming claw footed bath where you can sink down and soak it all in. A beamed ceiling, wood flooring, plaster walls and period details evoke the simplicity of an earlier era while an ample front porch provides plenty of shade. A backdrop of birdsong invites you to think, write, paint, strum, or gin up games to enjoy an unplugged existence. We offer wine/beer tours! Sip your way through Charlottesville area and take in all the beauty the area has to offer. You'll understand why Charlottesville has become the No. 1 tourist destination in the state. Whether you want to have a private tour (non shared vehicle) or a public tour we have the wheel, so you can sit back and enjoy the sites. Our drivers are carefully selected for their understanding of the area and outstanding customer service. Public tours available on Saturdays and Private tours offered 7 days a week. Our tours are 5 hours long. One of our expert guides picks you up from your doorstep at noon. You will visit between 3-5 different wineries and or breweries depending on your preferences. Each itinerary is customized depending on your group size and your requests. We'll have you back to the Retreat at 5:00. We offer water on the van to keep you hydrated! We have 2 vans, each seat 11 passengers. $75/person Sunday- Friday public tour $50/person Saturday public tour $100/person private tours (Gratuity not included.) Payment is made at the end of the tour. We accept cash and card. When booking your room please let me know if you'd like to reserve seats. There is a fire pit right out front of the cabin with plenty of fire wood and 2 Adirondack chairs. We supply all firewood. There is an outdoor chimney with deck and picnic tables on the retreat. 2 ponds with walking pathways to each. We are considerate hosts providing enough privacy for a pleasant stay yet ample support if need be. We live with our two children in the main house about 50 yards from the cabin. The entrance to the cabin faces away from the main house so your space is private. The fire pit is also yours, located just off the front porch of the cabin with plenty of fire wood and 2 Adirondack chairs for relaxing. Uber and Lyft readily available Welcome to Bailey's Retreat Cabin! A few things to make your stay most comfortable. The mini split air conditioning/heater unit is operated by the white remote control located on the table. The gas fireplace provides a beautiful ambiance and is a secondary heat source and should not be left on if you are not in the cabin. In the event the mini split is not providing enough heat, the gas fireplace is your supplement. Please turn the unit off when not in use. The tub is for soaking, please stay seated when rinsing with the wand. Coffee and supplies are in the china hutch. Mr. Coffee maker in kitchen. If you need to remove garbage, please bag it and text Bill to pick it up right from your porch. (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) No need to separate your recycling. Our service provider takes care of it at their facility. The porch light switch is outside below the fixture and should be left on if you leave the cabin and expect to return after dark. We provide all firewood for the fire pit. Baileys Retreat is a 50 acre mountain estate so please enjoy all of it, mountain views, pavilion, and terraces. Ivy West farm is a private working farm in the retreat and does not allow visitors. When booking the quest agrees to hold harmless Baileys Retreat and its owners from any liabilities.
