Upstairs at Deer Hill House
The Deer Hill House was built in 1832 as a post and beam Hotel. It's been an inn, a dance hall, a cafe, and is now four separate apartments under one roof. The house is located on West Main St., not to be confused with Main St., a quiet country road with the river across the street, Deer Hill behind the house, and a large open yard. This is a sunlit, second floor, one bedroom apartment. It is cozy enough to relax, hang out and enjoy, or be home base while you go off adventuring. The apartment comfortably sleeps two. It feels a bit "intimate" when sleeping more on an air mattress in the living room but it's doable. Very comfortable having a number of people during the day. The kitchen packs a large table, "coffee station" full size fridge and stove, microwave and toaster. Well stocked for easy meal prep. The living room is set up with a couch and comfy chair, game table with board games and relaxing atmosphere. The bathtub does not hold water. Sorry, no baths There is a second one bedroom apartment available for airbnb on the first floor as well. Name to search is Deer Hill House. If you feel our place would be a good fit for your dog and you would like to bring him/her along, let us know when you book. We ask that if you plan to leave your dog alone in the apartment that they are in a dog crate while your gone. (May be possible to provide one. Lets talk first) If you allow your dog on the bed and or couch please bring a clean sheet or blanket to cover them first. We love dogs here and are open to helping out in whatever way we can when available. We live in one of the upstairs apartments. We are friendly, often enjoying a fire outside on the weekends, which you are welcome to come join. We are happy to chat and socialize or let you have this time to yourself. We are always available to answer any of your questions if not in person, via text. We have a friendly dog named Bella. We have recently installed an invisible fence so Bella can be outside off leash. If your bringing along your pup this will mean a little coordinating as it's not fair to any pup to meet another without owner discussion first and both on leash. Hasn't proven to be to difficult. Since covid we have missed interaction with our guests. Please know we are friendly and still happy to chat from a distance and with masks. Our neighborhood includes the west branch of the Westfield River. Not only breath taking views but is considered by some Anglers as the best kept secret for Fly Fishing Trout. We are a little village of sorts with a scattering of homes, a parish house, beautiful small Church and stroll worthy roads. It is not uncommon after a snow storm to see people on their xcountry skis going by. Nestled in the hill towns, Cummington is in the middle of nowhere with access to everywhere. Being directly off The Berkshire Trail/ RT 9, we are 40 min from Northhampton and 45 from the BSO's summer home at Tanglewood. We are in close proximity to three ski resorts: Notchview (10min), Stump Sprouts (20 min), and Berkshire East (30 min). The beautiful waterfalls at the Windsor Jambs is 10 min away and great hiking abounds all around us. The famous Old Creamery is 5 min down the road. Since covid we have changed guest entering the front door into a shared hallway for the four apartments to the back entrance sharing a hallway with only our apartment for 2 steps before entering yours. We wear masks entering and leaving and ask you do the same. No one will use the back entrance other than guests. This entrance includes a flight of stairs outside up to the back door. Steps are steep. Should use care.
