Galway is 30 minutes away. SEASONS:While there are different attractions in Winter and Summer, the position of the house gives access to long winter walks to summer swims. THE VILLAGE and LOCALE: We are on the edge of the perfect village with a mixture shops, pubs with music, restaurants, and a craft centre. The house is a 2 minute walk from the Village. BEACHES: Beach within easy walk. Many more accessible by car. GALWAY: The city is culturally rich with many attractions. A museum. Excellent restaurants and shops. A Saturday market. Cinemas. Theatres. Galway is a festival city. Depending on time of year there are Arts Festivals, Film Festivals, the Galway Races, Literature Festivals, Oyster Festivals etc. THIS YEAR GALWAY IS THE EUROPEAN CITY OF CULTURE WITH CONSTANT CULTURAL EVENTS ALL YEAR. The picturesque village of Roundstone is a one hour away with it's fabulous beaches of Dog's Bay and Gurteen. Clifden is an easily accessible market town and home of the Connemara Pony Show in August. ARAN ISLANDS: All three islands are easily accessible by boat from Rossaveal (30 minutes away) or by air. A fascinating day trip any time of year. CLARE: A day trip to Clare includes the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. WALKING: All year round local walks and many others in the Connemara National Park and surroundings FISHING: You can fish off the pier, especially in the mackerel season. You can arrange daily deep seafishing trips. There is a fly fishing school nearby. HORSE RIDING: There are several riding schools in the area open all year. GOLF: There are 4 courses within easy reach - Galway, Barna, Ballyconneely and Oughterard. KIDS: Lots of activities including for wet days! There are recommendations and many brochures in the house for your use. A car is advised. There is a bus service to and from Galway and to the West. There are local taxis available.
