"The Annex at Wild Almond is a stylish cottage,situated in the heart of our lovely village,separate and adjacent to the original and well known, Wild Almond "The Cottage" The Annex has two en-suite, Queen size beds/rooms ,a spacious barn style lounge with roaring log fire, WIFI is free. A vine covered patio and private garden and a shared pool If you're a group,"The Cottage",depending on availability,is right next door( 2 couples). PLEASE NOTE R450 PPPN & MINIMUM 2 GUESTS PER 2 NIGHT STAY The cottage has a charming McGregor Country Georgian design and is a relatively new addition, side by side, but separate to the original and well known, Wild Almond Cottage. As you park your car inside the tree fringed property, you will be met and warmly welcomed by Dennis, a long-time resident and owner, who will unlock and introduce the property to you.A discreet wooden door,framed by fragrant Star Jasmine bids you enter the stone passageway which leads to your front door.Your first impression will be of abundant space and a feeling of tranquility. The Annex consists of two en-suite bedrooms furnished in a classic, yet contemporary style. Both bedrooms have queen size beds and crisp 220 thread count cotton linen and non-allergenic duvets and pillows. Fluffy white towels await you in the en-suite bathrooms which consist of a spacious shower and loo. The main living is a large barn style room with comfortable settee and occasional armchairs and a oh-so-warm roaring log fire (for those chilly, romantic winter Karoo nights)….. WIFI connectivity is immediately available. An open plan, fully equipped kitchen with an Elba gas hob and a Bosch oven, Bosch fridge/freezer, micro wave oven, dish washer will allow you to cook up a storm with some of those delicious Karoo organic goodies you purchased at our Farmers Market, known as M&M,(Made in McGregor Shop up the road) is adjacent to the stylish and welcoming ,six seater Cape Georgian period dining room table. Various interesting and captivating artworks adorn the walls. There are large glass and wood patio doors which open out to a vine covered verandah with relaxing built in seating as well as a cast metal, circular table and chairs. All this overlooks a contained and private, gravelled Karoo Mediterranean garden, consisting of Frantoia and Mission Olive trees, fragrant Rosemary ,Iceberg Roses, Aloes and other interesting succulents and trees. If you wish to stream DSTV, Netflix, Spotify or TuneIn Radio etc, you are most welcome as we do not have live TV. PLEASE NOTE We are not pet friendly Children of 12 years or older are welcome as it is a grown up type of place If a group of friends, or family wish to book The Annex and The Cottage simultaneously,this option is dependent on both cottages being available from a date point of view (See Wild Almond Cottage calendar on this site)...This will sleep 8 persons as sharing couples. The Annex has its own private demarcated area and is not shared.The only area that is shared is the parking area in the front of the property As we live in McGregor,we are always available to contact by (Hidden by Airbnb) /Text or Cell phone.Dennis is a proud Super Host with AirBnB of many years standing. McGregor is a little Karoo village where time has stood still. It charms out of town visitors with its quaint architecture, majestic mountains and friendly villagers and to top it all, is surrounded by some of the best wine makers and estates in the Western Cape.McGregor has some really interesting restaurants and eateries.Tebaldis,set in the middle of a beautiful garden with Peacocks strutting their stuff is the place to sample Karoo Bistro cooking at its best accompanied by the best local wines. 51 on Voortrekker offers delicious breakfasts and lunches. Think freshly baked sourdough breads, daily menus and delicious coffee. How Bazaar, also in Voortrekker presents a fabulous array of cakes and coffees whilst watching locals playing Boule in the garden Wine estates and Olive farms, surround McGregor. Lords Winery which is only 8kms from McGregor is situated under the shadow of Die Galg, an imposing Riviersondereinde mountain peak run by the fabulous Oosterhuizen Family headed up by Jacie, wine master supreme. Expect to see the resident Blue Crane family and perhaps a chick. strutting their stuff while you sip a glass of Jacie’s delicious, award winning, chilled Pinot Noir or Chardonnay, accompanied by a delicious casual luncheon, while savouring the magnificent valley views. For the more energetic there are superb hiking and MTB trails around McGregor to test your fitness or more gentle meanders up the Die Krans trail which is in McGregor up to the dams at the top of the village. The Annex is 5 mins walk from restaurants,shops etc. Slow meandering walks are the order of the day in McGregor Traffic jams are unknown here,perhaps a wandering flock of local sheep might occasionally hold you up.....relax in McGregor McGregor is only 2 hours from central Cape Town and the drive out is magnificent.Robertson is approximately 20 minutes away with access to 2 mini shopping malls with Pick & Pay,Checkers,Spar etc
