Lakeside, family-friendly house - Stuga & sjötomt
Lugnets hamn is a sheltered place at road’s end on the Fogdö peninsula at the shore of lake Mälaren. Go for a walk through the green forest, take a swim, catch some fish, or enjoy a sunset dinner on the jetty. Family-friendly indoors and outdoors. Our house is privately located right on lake Mälaren. It’s family friendly, conveniently planned and has a relaxed atmosphere. You have access to the whole house including five rooms, kitchen, laundry room, and 1.5 bathrooms. Most parts of the house have recently been renovated. The kitchen is fully equipped and the kitchen table, with a view over the lake, can be extended to seat up to eight people. The living room, which is downstairs neighbouring the kitchen and the main door, has a large sofa and a TV, and there is lots of room to unwind reading a book or to spread out the favourite toys. Upstairs there are three bedrooms which sleep seven persons. The main bedroom has two large beds (120 cm); the “kids’ room” has a bunk bed (90 cm) and a single bed (80 cm); and, the smaller bedroom has two beds (90 cm wide) with foam mattresses. A crib for toddlers can be made available upon request. Please note that the main bedroom and the “kids’ room” can only be closed off with a sliding door and a provisional drapes, respectively, not doors. The upstairs bathroom is a full bathroom with a shower. The laundry downstairs has a washing machine and wet clothes and towels can be dried on a rack inside or outside. You are also welcome to use the large lawn, the playhouse, and the outdoor furniture and gas grill on the jetty down at the lake. You can also take a swim from the jetty where there is a ladder to get in and out of the water. The host lives in the cottage next to the main house and is not far away in case of questions or to sort out any practical issues. Please note that the far end of the property is part of the fishing business run by the host. You probably won’t notice much of the activities around this business, though, which is one of only a handful left in lake Mälaren. There is a lot to discover and explore in the nearby area. If you are interested in remnants from the Viking age, the Ramsund stone carving of Sigurd the dragon slayer close to Sundbyholm castle is a must. The old-town and dome in Strängnäs, and Gripsholm castle in Mariefred are well-recommended and popular destinations. For activities with a modern touch, Eskilstuna features Parken Zoo and several shopping malls. If you want to enjoy the closer surroundings and the lake when the weather is calm, you can borrow a small rowing boat and life-vests. The rowing boat, which can take up to two grown-ups or one grown-up and two children, is perfect for exploring the closest islands. We also have some fishing rods for you to use and the fishing from the jetty is great. If you want to get out for a walk there is a really nice and popular 5 kilometer circuit that loops through the forest and the village. This loop will take you past some good places for picking berries and wild flowers. The closest places to swim where there are shallow sandy beaches and jetties are located in Sundbyholm and Helgarö Kläpp, only 15-20 minutes away by car. The Sundbyholm beach, a large and well-maintained beach, is situated downhill from the castle close to a café and facilities. Helgarö Kläpp has two small, sheltered beaches only 500 meters away from the Helgarö church. You can park up to two cars on our property. To travel to Stockholm we recommend taking the train which takes less than an hour from Strängnäs and just over an hour from Eskilstuna. The closest bus stop is 3 kilometers away. Please note that there is a cat or two living on the property, we can therefore not allow any pets to visit. Friends and family who have their boats tied up at the nearby jetty will occasionally walk across the front yard since that is the main access route to that jetty.
