Seafront fisherman's cabin in Lofoten

Brand new cabin (Rorbu) on the waterfront at Gjermesøya outside Ballstad. One of the most beautiful locations in the Lofoten Islands with sea, hugh fishing-activity and magnificent mountains just ahead, this is a real rarity. The modern fisherman's cabin is spacious, it has two floors with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is glass in almost the entire front, that allows you to get as close to the nature as possible. Spacious veranda with marina just below. The location is of the coolest and most spectacular you can imagine - With the sea right in front. Ballstad is one of the largest and most viable fishing villages we have in Lofoten. Here it gets buzy in the winter when fishing-activity really has its peak season. Countless tons of cod are landed by many boats of different size and design. This is an incredible sight and something that really needs to be experienced. It will not be more real Lofoten than Ballstad can offer. Gjermesøya is an island located just outside Ballstad town center. The island is not very big, but you have large outdoor areas that are perfect for those who bring children to Lofoten. Gjermesøya is a sparkling playpen, here it is not possible to get bored. There is also a pier that opens the entrance to Ballstad. Here you can try to catch fish by yourself if you like. Fishing is one of the most exciting activities you can do at Ballstad. You can also join real fishing boats on a fishing trip. There are several providers of both fishing trips and ribs safari who also know how to find the eagles. The Lofoten is the realm of sea eagles. We live in Leknes, a few minutes from the cabin. If you have any questions, we can easily help you. Ballstad has a lot more to offer. Here, about 1150 people live and it is a viable community with school, kindergartens, soccer field, shop, cafes and restaurants that prepare the fish in an excellent way. The closest restaurant is just across the strait in Kræmmervika, where there has been a base for the fishermen for many years. Several fishermen's cabins are from the 19th century. Only 15 minutes drive to Leknes which is the municipal center in Vestvågøy municipality. Leknes complements Ballstad in an excellent way. Here you get all the necessary needs covered, with many shops, cafes, eateries and other service facilities. The airport is also in Leknes. Between Leknes and Ballstad is Gravdal. Here is also a well-functioning hospital. The Lofoten and the surrounding area is a paradise for the active. Here you can walk, cycle, climb or ski in the wonderful mountains, go kayaking, fishing, surfing, play golf or many other activities. Ballstad is an excellent base to experience Lofoten. With our location in the middle of Lofoten, you can experience the whole of Lofoten within a 1,5 hour drive. We love to spend time in the nature. From the cabin, you can reach more than 10 different mountains within a 15-20 minute drive, the first one only a minute walk from the cabin. These are of different difficulty, some are easy and others are tough. Here are beautiful beaches and you can enjoy the midnight sun during the summer. In winter-time you can watch the northern-light from the cabin. To experience the northern-light, it has to be clear sky. We have our airport close by. In addition we also have bus-transportation within walking-distance. The bus takes you both east and west in Lofoten. If you want to travel with the famous Hurtigruten, it is a 30 minute drive to get here from the port. The best way to get around in Lofoten is by car. There is a lot of car rental companies in Lofoten, you can pick up the car on the airport if you like. We have a partner that provides rental car to a good price.
