The Anselmo Suite
Surrounded by Mennonite and Amish farmland, Hertzog Homestead Bed & Breakfast offers privacy and elegance. Built by the innkeeper's ancestors, this 1760s farm and suites burst with warmth and charm. The perfect place to get away. Nestled behind our historic barn, this cottage is a private and economical addition to our four luxury suites. The cottage is a freestanding, manufactured cozy house, completely refurbished and designed for families or small groups. The interior style combines both modern and contemporary furniture with blended Victorian appeal. Scott and Kristen Hertzog have been enjoying the company of guests from around the world who come and visit the Hertzog Homestead Bed and Breakfast since 2003. Scott’s heritage on this farm dates back to the days when the first Mennonites settled the area in the mid-1700s. Scott’s talents include genealogical research on the people and the history of the Hertzog Homestead. Many of the antiques that decorate the bed and breakfast have come down through generations of Scott’s family. Scott is the 8th generation descendant of an unbroken family bloodline to live on the Hertzog Homestead. The Mennonite church, the one-room schoolhouse, and road by the homestead also bear the name of his original ancestor Jacob Metzler. Born and raised in Edison, New Jersey, Kristen brings a unique and fresh perspective into the Mennonite culture. Kristen was an Amish tour guide and has worked various marketing positions in the Pennsylvania Dutch tourism industry including Sight and Sound Theatres and Plain and Fancy Farms. She was awarded the Women of Influence 2017 Award by the Central Pennsylvania Business Journal for her leadership and innovation at Hertzog Homestead.
