Country Casita Retreat
Little casita only 2 miles to downtown Silver City is a great place for spiritual retreating or quiet, undistracted time! A small library of Buddhist and other spiritual books is provided. This little house has enough room to stretch out for one person or is a cozy spot for two people, plus it has views, a mostly private back yard and is close to the national forest. Note: this house is in a rural setting with a dirt road and wildlife. There is no television and the wifi is variable in strength. We are on the southeast side of the mountains north of Silver City, just a half a mile from the Gila National Forest and near the Continental Divide Trail. It is mostly very quiet here, so it is a good place to quiet your mind. We also ask you to only come if you value quiet and refrain from loud music. The little house and the yard around it is yours entirely. I am a short distance away. I rarely make contact with guests in the casita, but can come over if you need me most days. 8 houses share our dead-end dirt road that is half a mile from pavement. The houses are rural and nicely spaced out so we don't see each other, but close enough to socialize or get help. We are surrounded by dry grassland and a fair amount of trees (juniper, pine, oak). There are deer, coyotes, rabbits, owls, various birds, and the occasional large predator here. My bassett-cross dog runs in her fenced yard, but there is a separate fenced yard if you bring your pet. We are 2 miles to town and its restaurants, bars, stores and great arts & culture, but the first half a mile is a dirt road. The road can become tough to drive in when there's a rain deluge (happens 3-4 times a year). There's also a creek to cross that becomes impassible on occasion (we have to wait an hour or walk over the foot bridge). One small to medium dog is welcome if you give me advance notice. Please never let your dog loose without a leash. We have small dogs, cats, horses and chickens in the neighborhood, along with small children who could be hurt by a loose dog. Plus we have wild animals that might hurt your dog, and neighbors who might shoot a loose dog that comes onto their property.
