Want a genuine Maine experience? Our cabin is located on a private peninsula on the Kennebec River. The river is tidal and you often see sturgeon jumping in the river just out the window. Watch the otters play in the water, see a blue heron in the morning, listening to the bald eagles playing in the trees, this cabin is truly a piece of paradise. Our cabin in located 1 hour from Portland, 30 minutes from Augusta and 40 minutes from Popham beach. Experience the best of Maine in one central location. There are organic local farm stands, off the beaten path authentic lobster shacks, rivers, lakes and untouched coastal Maine sights within a half hour of our cabin. Also enjoy our 3 kayaks and horseshoe pit! This is a perfect retreat for an artist or writer, a romantic getaway or for the whole family. Plus, we are pet friendly! Great for kids and dogs too! Grocery Stores Goransons- Dresden- Local Organic Farm Stand (end of June, beginning of July- pick your own strawberries)- 5 min Pierce’s Country Store- Richmond- small country store- 10 min Dresden Take Out- Convenience Store and fuel- 5 min Hannaford- Gardiner- 15 min Hannaford- Damariscotta- 20 min Rising Tide- Damariscotta- Awesome health food store- 20 min Sheepscott General- Whitefield- Local Organic Farm Store and small health food store. Also small local restaurant with an amazing pizza night on Fridays. Lots of events going on here including live music- 20 min Near by towns Wisscassett- small town on Rt 1 10 miles south. Great little shops with a costal Maine feel. Also the home to Reds famous lobster rolls which have been features in the New York Times. Damrascotta- Our favorite near by town! Coastal Maine feel with lots of shops and good restaurants. There is a cute one screen theater. In the spring watch the alewives run. This town is also known for its oysters! Just south of Damrascotta are the Hardy Boat cruises which take you to Monhegan or whale watching and puffin cruises. Camden / Rockport / Rockland / Owls Head- Bustling coastal Maine towns. Lots to do, lots of shopping and great food. Walk out on the breakwater to the lighthouse in Rockland (a favorite of ours!) Check out the transportation museum in Owls Head. There are lots of events (family friendly ones too) here in the summer. Bath / Brunswick- The midcoast hub. Lots of things to do here. Shopping, live music. great restaurants. Check out the Maine Maritime Museum on a rainy day. There are outdoor concerts at the Bath Gazebo on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Bath has a great website with events (Website hidden by Airbnb)
