Guests will enjoy exclusive use of this spectacular 550-hectare fynbos mountain-top retreat with panoramic views of the Overberg farmlands and Swellendam mountains. Only 10 minutes from Napier and 30 minutes from Arniston, this is the ultimate private getaway. A perennial river with large weir runs alongside the well-appointed homestead and large entertaining deck and pool. Numerous private hiking trails with stunning views over the Agulhas Plains and tip of Africa are available on the reserve. You can only access this fynbos mountain reserve via a secure entrance and private 3 kilometre gravel farm road so the homestead and property is completely safe and inaccessible to trespasses. Guests have exclusive use of the entire reserve during their stay. Dogs and other pets are most welcome, and will enjoy swimming in the river and weir that runs alongside the house. The terrain is perfect for mountain biking, hiking, cross country running and other outdoor pursuits. Napier is situated under the Soetmuisberg mountain range, surrounded by rolling wheat and barley fields, in the Overberg region of the Western Cape, South Africa. The village itself is full of character and charm, and just two hours outside of Cape Town. It's an ideal stop for those wanting to experience a truly rural atmosphere and a break from city life. There are a number of excellent restaurants and pubs as well as farm stores, book shops, art galleries and antique shops. The village is beautifully kept with a blend of century-old cottages and modern houses, surrounded by rolling farmlands. In the past the village was known for its Blacksmiths, and is now commemorated by the annual Horse and Cart Festival. The popularity of Napier has increased dramatically during the past few years, and it is now rated by the Tourism Board as the fourth most attractive village of the Western Cape after Montagu, Greyton and McGregor. The Overberg is known as a gateway to the Garden Route coastal stretch. Agulhas National Park, on Africa’s southernmost tip, has a 19th-century lighthouse with views of the Indian and Atlantic oceans. Northeast, Bontebok National Park is home to rich birdlife, including the blue crane. Whales swim near Hermanus town’s Grotto Beach and adjacent Walker Bay Nature Reserve. Lying on the shores of Marcus Bay, just north-east of Cape Agulhas and 30 minutes from the homestead, is the tranquil little fishing village of Arniston, also known as Waenhuiskrans - ‘wagon shelter cliff’ - after a large low-tide sea cave, eroded in such a way as to resemble the structures used by settlers to house their oxen and wagons. Close to Arniston lies De Mond, a beautiful coastal nature reserve at the mouth of the Heuningnes River. It lies about 26km south-east of Bredasdorp (and 30 minutes drive from the homestead) on the south-western Cape coast, between Arniston and Struisbaai and is a World Heritage Site.
