Tranquil and cosy, our self-catering apartment for two is dog friendly and self-contained. Ideal for exploring the stunning West Highlands; generous breakfast provision pack, towels and linen, electric heating and drying rack for outdoor gear. At the top of Braes, parking on a quiet road above the house, or if you are cycling/hiking and want a lift up the hill that's fine. Just 1.5 miles out of he beautiful village of Ullapool, walk in over the hill path for fantastic views of the Summer Isles. Warm and welcoming, full of Nat's woodwork Gill's flowers and plenty of books From the living room, look out through the French doors onto the wild garden and woodland below. There is a neat kitchenette within the breakfast/living room which has settee, radio and wifi. There are board games and cards stored within the dining table but no tv. The hallway contains the fridge and clothes airer and there is access up to our main house above, separated at the foot of the stairs by a door which you can lock from your side. Along the hall is your double bed room and bathroom with shower. We have our own two dogs and three chickens and a cockerel Charles, they live down in the wood, in a fenced area, beyond the garden. There is a seating area on the terrace right outside. On arrival park outside our gate on the road and walk down the drive, past Nat's workshop. Take the steep path from our front door, it winds down into the garden and to the french doors which are your main access to the apartment. There are three steps up to these and then the flat is all on one level. You are welcome to walk down into the wood which is full of birds and the odd red squirrel. At night bats flit about and the occasional toad croaks by. We are happy to help if you need anything. Nat is a wooden boatbuilder and craftsman, Gill is a maker and artist. The apartment has much of their handywork on display. The Braes is a quiet hill side residential area, 1 mile south of Ullapool. Ullapool is a really vibrant village, lots of venues for music art, great food, both eat in and take away. Ideal stop off enroute North Coast 500 or if you are walking, climbing, sailing in the area. Regular buses from Inverness, which is the nearest main line station and airport. Ullapool is the ferry port for Stornoway - Harris & Lewis. Isle Martin and the Summer Isles just north of us. Wow. If you are cycling or hiking and need a lift just let us know. We try to be as environmentally friendly as we can. Please make use of the recycle and composting bins under the counter in the kitchenette. We have wifi and a radio but no TV. The kitchenette has a hob microwave/ grill/ oven, toaster and kettle. Tea/coffee plus a generous welcome pack of basics and breakfast supplies will be waiting for you in the fridge. There is plenty of extra bedding and quilts if we get a sudden cold snap. Hot water is always available, you may need to run the tap a little the first time you use it for the hot to come through. Let us know when you book if you need a cot so that we can have it ready for you, and if you are bringing a dog as we provide water bowl blanket etc.
