Cosy Rural Hideaway close to St Just and the coast
As the name suggests this cosy conversion was originally a piggery sited on what was once a typical West Cornwall farm. It's now a quirky but homely detached barn with all home comforts, private garden and parking. Carnyorth, a quiet hamlet that is nestled in the heart of Poldark country, is convenient for local beaches, coastal paths and moorland walks. There are 2 pubs within walking distance and the small town of St Just is a mile up the road, offering great shops, cafes and galleries. This quirky little barn is fully equipped for a comfortable and relaxing stay, with mod cons and wifi. The entrance is lower than a conventional door, being 5ft 6" tall and the access is via 2 steps, The top step is the original threshold step which is perfectly safe and stable, but as it has the natural characteristics of granite it might prove difficult for people who are unsteady on their feet. It is centrally heated and also has a woodburner for added cosiness. The lounge window overlooks a long garden with sea views in the distance. The galley style kitchen has a fridge/freezer, gas cooker with grill, microwave, kettle and toaster. The Belfast sink and drainer were reclaimed from a local school and the marble worktop from a Victorian washstand, all set on Victorian red bricks. The bedroom area has a 4ft wide solid beech double bed and drawers shelves and hanging space. The bathroom has a separate shower unit, hand basin with lit mirror above, a toilet and heated towel rail. The enclosed private garden has table and chairs and backs onto a working farm. Your car parking space is directly outside the Piggery. I am usually close by to answer any questions or for local information, however my phone no. will be available if needed. The Piggery is ideally placed for a couple who like home comforts while enjoying the stunning Cornish countryside and coastline. Nearby St Just, a small traditional Cornish town, packs in a fabulous array of quirky shops, cafes, and pubs, all wrapped around a medieval amphitheatre. It is also home to the fabulous Cape Cornwall golf course which is nestled in the stunning coastline. St Ives, the Minack Theatre and Lands End are all a short drive away, and with an abundance of wildlife and marine life, there is plenty to be enjoyed by everyone. Seals, dolphins and the infamous Cornish Chough can all be spotted regularly from the rugged coastal path. There is a stone circle on the moorland behind the Piggery, just a 10 minute walk up the track, the coastal path is also a 10 minute walk, and one of the first things you would see is the Botallack Mine, which sits dramatically half way down the cliff, and is featured heavily in many Cornwall promotions , and of course Poldark. We are on the coastal road 1 mile north of St Just. There is a regular bus service every hour or so which goes to Penzance and St Just, which stops a 5 minutes walk along the coastal road. In the summer months there is also an open top bus which allows you to take in the glorious coastal scenery to St Ives and Lands End. The nearest train station is at Penzance, 8 miles away, you can't miss your stop as it is the last stop in the country! Lands End airfield is 3 miles up the road and offers regular flights to The Isles of Scilly. The Scilly Isles can also be reached from Penzance by boat, The Scillonian, which sails daily. Penzance is also re-introducing the Heliport, which is due to launch in the spring of 2020, offering scenic flights and trips to the Isles of Scilly. To compliment all of this there is a reliable taxi service based in St Just along with Lands End Cycle Hire.
