The Elms is a classic Scottish house of the Edwardian period, set in an acre of beautiful gardens. It is located in the small town of Kirriemuir, with a five minute walk to the centre of town where you will find shops, cafes and restaurants, artisan galleries, museums, and bars. We offer a family/group suite of two separate bedrooms with its own sitting/television area complete with Sky TV and Netflix, and private bathroom (with bath) . One bedroom has a super-king bed, and the other has two king-single beds, with an additional infant's cot available should you need it. This makes it an ideal space for a family. The space has central heating throughout, and tea, coffee and toast facilities. On the ground floor, overlooking the gardens, we have an additional lounge and dining area for the exclusive use of our guests. We have free off-street parking for your convenience. Guests are welcome to use the guest dining and lounge room at the front of the house. The garden, complete with tables and chairs is also available for guest to enjoy. Myself or my wife Kumara will be available throughout your stay. If you need recommendations for an evening meal, shopping, site seeing or other activities, or just a friendly chat, we are available. Kirriemuir is "A Wee Red Toon" and is famous as the birthplace of J.M. Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, and where the once lead singer of AC/DC, Bon Scott, spent his infancy. Kirriemuir is at the foot of the Cairngorms and known as "Gateway to the Glens". It is the jumping-off place for many of the classic Angus Glens walks in places such a Glen Clova, Glen Doll and Glen Prosen. There is a network of beautiful walks in and around Kirriemuir such as the Kirrie Den, Kate's Wood and Caddam Wood. It is only a 45 minute drive to Glenshee Ski Fields and to the north of there, Braemar, Balmoral and Ballater. A little further north again takes you into Spey country, with numerous world famous whisky distilleries. Nearby is Glamis Castle with history stretching back to the 1300s and birthplace of the Queen Mother. Kirriemuir is a thirty five minute drive north of Dundee and about five miles off the A90, the main road between Dundee and Aberdeen. There are regular buses to and from Dundee. There is easy access to both Dundee and Aberdeen airports. From Dundee there is also a shuttle bus to Edinburgh Airport. Dundee is on the main east coast train line with easy connections to Edinburgh and east coast cities to the south all the way down to London.
