2 stunning villas in the centre of Methoni village, 8 minutes WALK to the beach
Our most recent review - received 28/01/2022 . By Beryl Sullivan, London. Aleiki and Phoebe are back-to-back traditional Greek houses, fitted and furnished to meet the needs of any family on holiday. My first visit to Methoni was in 2019 to stay in Phoebe. I returned 2 months later with both adult daughters to stay in Aleiki, which has 3 bedrooms, for 10 days . We finally were able to return to Aleiki recently ( September 2021 ). Both houses are fitted and furnished to a high standard. Aleiki has a larger kitchen and garden, but either house has suited me very well. They have generously fitted kitchens accommodating every possible need. All the bathrooms are similarly well-fitted with a generous supply of towels and toiletries. The beds are comfortable in roomy bedrooms and both houses have a large downstairs space for relaxing or for children to play using board games or books. Both houses have extensive libraries as well as books and information about restaurants and places to visit. Pylos, the town that plays a central role in the story of Ulysses ( Odysseus) is a 15 minute drive/ bus journey away. An 8-10 minute walk ( 10 mins for me, I'm 91 ) along the picturesque, hibiscus-lined 'main' street leads to the beach. 2 rows of sunbeds and palm umbrellas ( no charge ) edge the sea, which is shallow and safe for children, deepening gradually for more serious swimmers. The nearby beach hotel has a restaurant and also offers drinks and snacks with waiter service to the sunbeds. The beach is flanked on one side by the ancient castle; well worth an exploration. We didn't feel the need to rent a car for any of our holidays here - as far as we are concerned Methoni has it all! We can't wait to return to relax on the beach, sit in the shady garden and finish the wine generously provided in the welcome pack. Perhaps we will be warmly greeted again by Lakis, the lovely friendly cat who lives nearby.
