African Rain Forest Experience 3 House + Cottage

Fall asleep with the night sounds and memories of fireflies dancing in the gentle embrace of an ancient African rain forest. Our home is situated in the middle of the rain forest on an Nature Reserve on the Garden Route, about 25 kilometres from the holiday mecca Plettenberg Bay en route to the exquisite enclave of Nature's Valley. The home was designed (and lived in) by architect Jonathan Weinberg in an unique eclectic style, which can only be described as a fusion of luxurious Zen forest treehouse meets historical forest mining house. The home is built on the side of a forest hill, about 3 kilometres from a particularly unspoilt and wild part of the sea. The hill and forest protects the home from the coastal winds and creates unspoilt views of the rain forest and Tsitsikamma mountains for literally as far as the eye can see. A fast hike through the forest, gets you to a mystical beach in a little more than an hour, depending of course on how many of the forest sights will gently delay your walk. The home has two living areas that embrace the central fire area. All three the sleeping areas are separated from each other and are private. This listing include my entire house, and consist of the following: 1. The entire bottom part of my home, which includes a master bedroom with a double bed and a single bed. 2. Plus a completely self-contained main open plan, living area, with a double bed, a single bed, awork space, a lounge area, a large kitchen and dining room area. 3. It has a separate private Victorian styled bathroom and shower and private toilet. 4. All the rooms are connected by elevated wooden walkways and patios, which make you feel as if you are floating in the air in the forest. 5. Plus a self-sufficient cottage, which has a double bed and double bunk bed in it. You do not have to rent my whole home. 1. You can rent only the main house as described above (see https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10110584). 2. Or only the smaller cottage, which is a fully equipped for self-catering. It is an open plan space with a double bed, double bunk bed for 2 younger children, kitchenette, shower and toilet, an intimate little garden with a zen sandpit, and it has a viewing deck that appears to flow out over the forest. Our listings are all fully equipped for self-catering and also have portable braise/barbeques. Please arrange your own charcoal and fire starters? There is dam about 400 meters from my home to cool down in on hot days, and we are only a few hundred meters away from exquisite hiking trails, which are extensions of the famous Otter Trail. Access to all areas of the property. I will be available to offer telephonic assistance whenever required, when I am not in residence. We are five kilometres from the N2 national highway. The N2 is one of the four most important road systems in South Africa. It connects Cape Town with Port Elizabeth via the Garden Route where we are and then onwards to Durban. Our neighbourhood is about 15 houses in a 140 hectare Nature Reserve. You will be surrounded by some of the most exquisite nature and vistas anywhere in the world. Your immediate day light neighbours will be monkeys, Knysna Louries, Sunbirds and others birds, lots of them, 280 species of them. At dusk the fireflies appear and at night the nightjar, an owl or two or a bush pig family will keep you company, together with the Southern Cross, the Milky Way and a billion stars. We are literally only a few 100 meters away from the Tsitsikamma Nature Reserve, with its world famous Otter Hiking Trail. Several day hike and mountain bike extensions of the Otter Trail starts within 5 minutes of our home. We have the following world class attractions in our area: 1. Big 5 (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard) game safari's at the Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve ( 32km / 30 minutes away). 2. Whale and Dolphin boat adventures (seasonal +/_ July to December 28km / 30 minutes away). 3. The worlds highest commercial bungy jump at Bloukrans Bridge (22km / 20 minutes away) 4. Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, and the Elephant Sanctuary (6km / 10 minutes away 5. Africanyon Adventures. We are about 15 minutes away from the pristine beaches of Keurboomstrand and Nature's Valley. Along the pass down to Nature's Valley you can see giant Avatar like Yellow Wood trees that are 800 years old. A short distance down Keurboomsstrand is the Matjies River bushman Rock Shelter and Shell Midden, which dates back (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) years to the Neolithic Age. We are only 23 kilometres away from the highest commercial bridge bungy jump in the world, where the N2 crosses the Bloukrans River. We are further within only about 1 to 2 hours' drive of all the numerous tourist attractions along the Garden Route and about 3 hours' drive from the famous Addo Elephant National Park outside Port Elizabeth. Your own transport will be required. The home is situated in a critically endangered biosphere. There are few places like this left in the world, where they are they are under constant threat.
