Brattopp
Rustic, quirky and Spartan, but cosy. Log cabin with water and electricity 15 mins walk from Grua train station and local amenities. Oslo is 45 minutes away. Perfect if you are looking for a quiet getaway or want to explore Hadeland. Water is running, but slowly. Hot water is heated on the stove. The bathroom has a compost toilet. On a warm day you can shower - outside - using a portable camping shower. Access is a 10 minute walk up a hill along a path from the main road. The path crosses a railway track. Parking is at the main road. The cabin lies at the top of a hillside along with a few other cabins. It is mainly quiet, except when trains pass by below. The return to the main road takes 5 minutes. The reason the place is marked as 'not child friendly' is to do with the access and the path crossing the railway track. I take my own two children there now and then. They are 1 and 6, but I realise that it is not for everybody to do so. The cabin is also an ongoing project with building materials in a couple of places outside, so smaller children would need supervision walking about outside. The cabin sits in a managed outdoors forest area in the beautiful Hadeland area. Nordmarka with its vast network of paths, cycle paths is accessible from Grua 15 minutes walk away.
