Newly converted part of a 19th century farmhouse in rural area. Own entrance and patio. "Aan Eekst" is a cosy, open plan home with a spacious kitchen/living room with woodfire, a double bedroom and an ensuite shower and bathroom. There is underfloor heating and cooling throughout and it is furnished and decorated to a high standard. You are welcome to walk or sit/fish by the canal, meet the animals in the orchard and stables. Pick your own eggs or maybe some berries in the garden. We will try to welcome all guests on arrival and show you around. We will respect your privacy but be generally around or at the end of a phone if you need us during your stay. The North of the Netherlands is a very attractive area with lots to see and do locally. If you are keen on walking or cycling, there are a number of good and challenging routes around. The local towns are bursting with history and ripe for exploration. The university town of Groningen with a vibrant ambience, contemporary fashions, range of affordable bars and restaurants, a growing international performance-art festival and the best nightlife in the region. It’s also home to the Groninger Museum, a striking and controversial vision of urban architecture and art, and a definite highlight of the region. We recommend a daytrip to Schiermonnikoog, the small island has the broadest beach of Europe and no cars allowed. We have life stock on the grounds : sheep goats, chickens, turkeys and pigs. You are welcome to interact but please be careful.
