Hus an Moor
You are looking for something different and special? We can offer you just that. Stay with us in our family owned farmhouse B&B in the beautiful Devil’s Moor countryside. You will surely enjoy the rustic and familiar atmosphere. Originally built in 1750 the main house was saved from demolition when we purchased it in 1981. No longer a working farm, we restored and modernized it thus converting it into a live in space which has since been home to our family and to the many guests and travelers since we started the B&B in 2004. The adjoining buildings no longer existed when we moved here and had to be rebuilt. The main house’s interior as well as the holiday house, the so-called “barn”, and the woodwork studio were built in the traditional half-timbered style using only environmentally friendly and reclaimed material from pre-existing buildings in the area. The combination of new and old material gives the whole property its’ special flair and a sense of times past. The holiday house is approx. 75 square meters in size and sleeps 1 – 4 guests. There are two bedrooms, one of which has a double bed (160x200cm) and the other one has a bunk bed (80x200cm) ideal for adults and children alike. The living room area invites you to relax with its’ cozy lounge area and tiled stove, and the large patio glass doors give direct access to the garden and sheltered outdoor seating. The kitchen is fully equipped (gas stove) and the integrated dining area enables you to self-cater. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. Both the kitchen and bathroom have heated tile floors. Bedding and towels are available. Your Stay with us shoud last at least three nights. The property is located in an area called the Elbe- Weser-Triangle which offers excellent possibilities for long walks through the Moor (guided tours available), touring in a Torfkahn (peat barge), biking, canoeing as well as various other activities (distances from us to: Railway Station Hambergen-Oldenbüttel approx. 2km. Bremen approx. 30km, Bremerhaven approx. 35 km, North Sea ca. 35-60 km, Hamburg ca. 120 km). Bicycle can be rented from us. Particularly appealing is a visit to the internationally known artists’ colony Worspwede famous for artists such as the painters Paula Becker-Modersohn and Heinrich Vogeler among others lived and worked . Worpswede is easily accessible by bike. Another interesting outing is a trip to Bremerhaven with its Climate House, the Emigration Museum and the German Maritime Museum. Guests traveling by bike may be interested to know that the ADFC – the General German Bicycle Club- awarded our B&B with a “bike-friendly guest house” certificate in 2012 as part of a Bed&Bike campaign. We are happy to assist you in organizing and arranging your stay with us. We are looking forward to your visit.
