A lovely barn conversion set in the heart of the far west of Cornwall surrounded by breathtaking coastline and only ten minutes from the stunning surfing beach at Sennen. This is an area of raw beauty. Unpretentious, it’s Cornwall at its authentic best and feels lost in time and a place to escape. Whether coming to walk, surf or just unwind Stonechat is the perfect couple’s retreat from where to leave the hectic world behind. Named after the bird often seen locally in winter, Stonechat is semi-detached with the main farmhouse and set in a courtyard of converted farm buildings. There is private parking opposite and it has been beautifully finished offering a spacious living area with vaulted ceilings, it’s filled with light. With a lovely wood burner to curl up in front of it makes a cosy winter retreat too. The private French doors lead into the living room and next to it is a gate into a private patio garden perfect for sitting out in and enjoying a glass of wine on the long summer evenings. The bedroom has a modern en suite shower room and king size bed where you’re sure to get a good night’s rest after days out exploring this magical area. LOCATION Truthwall is a small hamlet set less than a mile from St Just off the stunning coastal road which leads to St Ives. A short walk away and you can be on the South West Coast Path and in the other direction the wild moors of Carnyorth Common are just behind Stonechat. If feeling energetic try exploring the stunning Tinner’s Way running along the coast from Cape Cornwall all the way to St Ives. It’s an ancient route from the Bronze age and where the tin and copper ore were transported along the way from St Just to Hayle. After a day’s activities enjoy a drink and let someone else do the cooking. Less than five minutes’ walk away is a great locals pub, The Queens Arms. St Just, less than a mile away, is your nearest town which is in walking distance or a few minutes’ drive away. It’s is a friendly, quirky place that feels like stepping back in time with a good selection of local shops, a deli, a butcher, four pubs and a small supermarket for your everyday needs. The far west is on the edge, things are different here. We're surrounded on three sides by the sea, and it has a strong influence on our lives. For beaches we are spoilt and Sennen Cove with its glorious surfing beach is only ten minutes away as is Portheras, a hidden, and stunning locals cove past Pendeen travelling east. Travelling around the far west, the impossibly quaint village of Mousehole and working harbour of Newlyn are 15 minutes’ drive away. Marazion with the famous St Michaels Mount, St Ives, Penzance and Porthcurno with the famous Minack theatre built into the cliffs are all well worth visiting and also an easy drive away. LIVING The French front doors off a little path lead into the large open plan main Living Space. There’s a comfy two-seater sofa and armchair, a dining table with four chairs and a flat screen TV. The wood burner heats up a treat and in season we will leave you enough logs to get you going for a night or two.
