Casa Terrazza, a beautifully restored 900 year old terra tetto (an independent town house), features a large terrace with spectacular views of the Val di Chiana. Located in the centro storico of Lucignano, a beautiful mediaeval town in the heart of Tuscany, where exploring all the major historic Tuscan sites is so easily accessible. Just a few steps away from the town's many restaurants, gourmet shops and bars. The Space The house is located in the heart of centro storico, the historic centre of Lucignano. Everything is within minutes of the front door; whether you want to get your morning caffe from the local bar, have a meal at one of the many pizzerias or trattorias, or sample the gourmet food shops. Casa Terrazza was fully rebuilt in the past 5 years and has been recently redecorated with a unique blend of Tuscan antiques and modern finishes. With direct access from Via Roma, the house features a spacious and comfortable living room which opens directly onto a huge terrace which has stunning views over the Val di Chianna. This is an ideal place for alfresco dining with its beautiful long teak dining table that caters for up to 10 people and which is shaded by large market umbrellas. On the same main living level is a fully equipped state of the art kitchen which overlooks Via Roma. A separate laundry and washroom are also located on this level. Two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, complete with spacious wardrobes, and a beautifully appointed guest bathroom and ensuite are located on the second level. Stunning views across the valley can be seen from two of the bedrooms. A spacious study, located on the 3rd level, doubles as a private reading retreat or a 4th bedroom. This opens onto a terrace which is a perfect place to sip a glass of the local Vino Nobile while taking in the spectacular views of the Valdichiana countryside. Free parking is easily accessible. All guests will be met by a Lucignese local bilingual speaker (English and Italian). Apart from providing you with information about Lucignano and the surrounding attractions, she will also be you point of contact during your stay should any issues arise. The Neighbourhood Lucignano itself, is one of the most outstanding examples of a fortified Tuscan medieval village and is incredibly well located in central Tuscany. Lucignano is very proud of their Orange Flag Award from the Italian Touring Club, for "the promotion of cultural heritage, environmental protection, culture, hospitality, access to and availability of resources, the quality of accommodation, catering and local products”. As a visitor to Lucignano, you will find it perfectly located as an introduction to Italy’s famed ‘dolce vita’. The area around Lucignano truly does have it all! There’s an overabundance of things to do and see, because this part of Tuscany has been value-adding since Etruscan times. Renaissance paintings and Gothic Cathedrals, spectacular walks and cycling, sensational slow food, hills laden with vines and ancient olive groves. Sienna, Pienza, Montepulciano, Cortona, Florence, Assisi, or Arezzo are a short drive away. After a day of climbing the cobbled streets of surrounding hillside villages, relax on the terrace with a glass of Vino Nobile while taking in the views over the Valdichiana countryside. Whilst Lucignano is an historically important town, it has not become overrun with tourists and for those who wish to try out their Italian language skills, you will find the locals patient and friendly. Everything is in walking distance (just metres away from the front door!), whether you want to get morning caffe and cornetti, have a meal in one of the many restaurants, get supplies from the local Supermercato or Macellaria, or have that special Aperitivo in the afternoon. Getting there The road access to Lucignano is excellent whether arriving from the south (Rome) or Perugia, or north, Florence or Pisa on the Autostrada A1. You can also take a fast train to Florence or Arezzo and then take one of the frequent bus services to Lucignano.
