Castle Johanniterburg Kühndorf - Oberburg IV

Our apartment Oberburg IV offers 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large living-dining room with kitchenette. In the rooms there are 2 beds each, in 4 each 1 extra bed, in one of them additionally 1 cot (dimensions of beds in the picture descriptions). The apartment is spacious and cozy, the rooms are furnished with antiques, but have new beds. All floors and some walls are made of wood. The apartment is particularly suitable for meeting family and friends. The apartment OB IV is located on the top floor of the castle. Access is via the stair tower (wooden staircase from 1610) via the Torburg (built-out attic with low ceiling height) through the upper part of the former chapel of the Knights of St. John and then a last staircase to the apartment - thus over 100 steps. For this you will be rewarded with a magnificent view! From the stair tower you reach the small castle garden, which is only available to the guests of the apartments in the castleg and is currently being newly created. A barbecue area with table and benches is already ready for use! The apartment is suitable for families or retreats, but not for groups who want to celebrate loud every evening...! We as hosts live in the castle ourselves and ask for our privacy. The host family is the owner and occupant of the castle. The White House is part of the Johanniter Castle Kühndorf, a medieval castle from the 14th century. The castle can be visited during the opening hours. Guided tours are possible for groups of 15 persons by arrangement at any time. The village Kühndorf is located at the foot of the Dolmar, which is a popular hiking and excursion destination with its 740 m. On the mountain you can stop by the Charlottenhaus and enjoy the fabulous view or book a scenic flight at the mountain-based Dolmar flying school. The former residence city of Meiningen, which is about 8 kilometers away, offers not only a nationally known theater but also a multitude of cultural opportunities, such as the castle of Elisabethenburg or the theater museum, but also something extraordinary, such as the last large-scale maintenance work for steam locomotives in Western Europe. The central location of Kühndorf next to the A71 allows short-term visits to Eisennach, Erfurt and Weimar in Thuringia, but also Coburg, Schweinfurt, Bad Neustadt, Bad Kissingen and the wine region around Hammelburg in Bavaria can be reached in about an hour. The attractive landscape in the transition between Rhön and Thuringian Forest invites you to hike in summer and winter sports in Oberhof or Schmiedefeld about half an hour away. Depending on the number of beds booked, we prepare the rooms, bed linen and towels are included in the price. Additional costs may apply if additional beds or bed linen are used.
