Located just 3 blocks away from the commuter rail line in one of Boston’s most prestigious suburbs, this newly renovated 2 bedroom apartment in an old Victorian home accommodates a party of 1-4 people. Parking for up to 2 vehicles off-street. 24/7 access via keyless entry at front door of house. High-speed wireless internet and cable TV. Base rate is for 1-2 persons; each additional person add $25. Sorry, no children under 15 years old due to steep staircase to 3rd floor. No pets, no smokers. Kitchenette has microwave oven, coffee maker, hot kettle, blender, and rice/soup maker. Kitchen does not have stove/oven. Condiments, cream and complimentary refreshments are in the refrigerator. Basic cooking supplies (e,g., coffee, tea, salt pepper sugar, olive oil) are kept on hand. Ultra high efficiency A/C and heat pump “mini-split” system. 3 minute walk to commuter rail. 15-20 minute ride on train to South Station in downtown Boston. Several bus lines stop 2 blocks away. 1 mile to entrance to Mass Pike. Access to Charles River bike path 1.3 miles away. 15 minute drive to Logan Airport (in good traffic). Convenient to shops and restaurants. Some limitations: Access is through front door of house through shared staircase to 2nd floor and short hallway to door to 3rd floor staircase. Steep staircase to 3rd Floor – suitable only for able-bodied adults and children over the age of 15. Must observe house rule regarding noise: “whisper” level after 10:30PM. Mansard Roof creates sloped exterior walls; some areas are cramped for person over 6’ tall. Bathroom is tiny, but nicely finished. NOTE TO GUESTS BOOKING SAME DAY: IF WE DON'T ASSIGN TO YOU AN ACCESS CODE BY 2:00PM, PLEASE BE IN TOUCH BY TEXT OR EMAIL TO ENSURE YOU GET AN ACCESS CODE. YOU MUST HAVE THIS IN ADVANCE OF YOUR ARRIVAL. Front porch, front Foyer, stairway to 2nd floor foyer, short hallway to door to 3rd floor staircase and apartment. May store some items in barn (if arranged in advance). Access to space is up stairs to 2nd floor foyer, then around corner to door to 3rd floor staircase. Laundry room in basement will be available to guests staying more than 6 nights; inquire with host family to schedule laundry room time. Your access is independent, though we share the staircase from the front foyer to the 2nd floor foyer and hallway area. We will say a cheerful hello if we cross paths during your stay, but you are not obligated in any way to interact. Owner private areas are marked. The 3rd floor is your private space during your stay. Newton, deemed one of the "safest cities in America", is more generally thought of as a residential suburb of Boston. We are two blocks away from Newtonville Center. Shops, grocery stores, and 15 restaurants are within a 5 minute walk from our door. Newtonville is one of 13 "villages" of Newton, and each village has at least one commercial center. Commuter rail station is a 3 minute walk. Some bus lines stop 2 blocks away. Entrance to Mass Pike is 1 mile away. Route 95/128 is 3 1/2 miles away. Parking on our property: primary spot is on the grass/sidewalk between driveway and front walkway. Second spot (if needed) to farthest to the right in front of the old grey barn at the top of the driveway. Most of the household members are working people and quiet after 10:30PM must be observed. Any guests who are not part of your party must depart at 10:30PM.
