Traditional Irish Farmhouse in Rural Retreat
Large spacious house originally built in 1912 and modernised in the early 2002. The property is in a rural location close to Carrickmore and 20 minutes drive from Omagh, Cookstown or Dungannon. Belfast and Derry are an hour and 15 minutes drive away. Nearby attractions include An Creagan, The Ulster American Folk Park and Beagmore Stone Circles. In a tranquil setting with lots of space to relax and enjoy the views, my place is great for couples, families, big groups, and dogs. Situated half a mile from the road, at the foot of the Sperrin mountains, the farm is in a peaceful spot with stunning views. Due to it's quiet location, it benefit from limited light pollution and has dark skies, so on a clear night stars and constellations are easily visible. The farm is teaming with wildlife including rabbits, hares, foxes, badgers, stoats and buzzards, to recently spotted deer near one of the tree plantations. There is also a small pond which attracts dragon flies and, on occasion, herons. Guests will be able to access the house and the fields around the farm which offer great walks as well as amazing views across the countryside. I am available to assist throughout your stay mainly in the evenings and at weekends. If you require further guests to stay at the property, this can be accommodated upon request and an extra fee may be incurred. The farm is at the foot of the Sperrin Mountains, an area described as wild, untouched and beautiful. Spanning 40 miles, the Sperrins mountain range is the largest in Ireland. Walkers can expect undulating hills covered in heather, quiet valleys, boggy uplands and a land teeming with wildlife. The area is rich in archeology with over 90 sets of stone circles have been found in the Sperrins, the best known being Beaghmore Stone Circles in the south east of the range. Despite being relatively small in stature, the alignments of the Beaghmore Stone Circles accurately correlate to movements of sun, moon and stars. As the house is situated in a rural location, the only public transportation is by bus from the local village, Carrickmore, which is situated 5 minutes drive from the property. The bus goes a couple of times a day to either Dungannon or Belfast. From Omagh it there are regular buses to Dublin and from Dungannon, regular buses to Belfast. Dog sitting service is available
