The house itself, is just a stones throw from its own private dam and entertainment area which includes a fire pit, hot-tub and swimming pool. The house is set across 2 floors; the lower floor has 2 spacious en-suite bedrooms, 1 guest bathroom, a lounge, dining room, kitchen and lower deck. Upstairs you will find another en suite bedroom, and an open plan 4th (overflow) bedroom with 2 Queen size beds - that can sleep an additional 4 people and of course, the upper viewing deck outside. With Cemcrete flooring and walls throughout the house, you'll love how cool the house is on those hot days. The rooms are very spacious and utilize hospitality-standard bedding and linen. You'll have the whole house to yourself that includes private access to the wood fired hot-tub, fire pit, swimming pool, boat & serene water frontage. The owner lives on the farm next door, so you'll have plenty of space to be yourself on your holiday. They'd just politely require the noise to be kept to a minimum, to be considerate of the nature reserve and our neighbours. Lying in the beautiful Crocodile River Valley some 40 minutes from Johannesburg, to the south of the Magaliesburg Mountains, lies the Oori Private Game Reserve. (Oori is Tswana for Crocodile). The total area of about 1800 hectares is made up of roughly 56 properties, all of which have done away with internal fencing in order to live in harmony with nature. The commonly held belief is that human habitation has almost always been at the expense of the environment and the conservancy is attempting to change this and return the area to what it was – every game species reintroduced, every tree replanted and every bird species released is another step along the path. The Oori Private Game Reserve lies within a transitional zone between grassland and bushveld known as Bankenveld – rolling countryside and rocky ridges, principally dolomite, where trees find some protection against fire. Both the southern and eastern borders of the reserve are formed by the Crocodile River, once known as the Oori River by the Tswana people. The Oori Private Game Reserve has already introduced 52 animals and residents are slowly planting indigenous plants and trees, replacing those exotics mainly around dwellings, striving to keep existing eco-systems intact. There are Ubers or car hire available for those flying into Lanseria International, otherwise your host will be able to arrange transport with our local transfer company.
