Surrounded by the hop fields of Poperinge you can enjoy the wonderful private pond. Both garden and pond have their own regular customers: green woodpeckers, Flemish jays, sparrow hawks and kestrels frequently explore the domain. Throughout the year wild ducks, coots and moorhens inhabit the pond. Little grebes are frequent winter guests and common sandpipers come every year in May. Yet, the pride of the pond is the kingfisher. If you prefer to stay in and around the guest house there is all of this so beautiful to see! But besides, there are many places to visit in and nearby Poperinge, city of hop. The centre of town houses the Talbot House and the Hop Museum. The many signposted cycle and hiking routes take you to idyllic places. The Belgian coast is at half an hour car drive away. From the terrace you can view the Flemish and French Flemish mountains. Guest house Marjolein is a wonderful place to stay for 2 people, offering a hotel bed and bath linen service. The sleeping area has a double bed. The sofa bed in the television area can be transformed into a bed for one or two extra guests/kids. The entrance hall has a cosy sitting area and a dressing. The cooking range is well-equipped so you can cook whatever meal. The refrigerator is cool, so you can fill it with all kinds of delicacies to enjoy your breakfast, dinner or supper. In order to prepare your meal we can recommend bakeries, butcheries and grocery stores in our city of hop. Marjolein is only 3 km away from the city centre. Already welcoming you in flower pots, sweet marjoram (marjolein in Dutch) is the leitmotiv throughout the guest house. Marjoram/oregano is an herbaceous, fragrant plant that is used in the kitchen to spoil yourself with a delicious tea or to use it for several meat preparations. It was believed that the sweet scent of marjoram was created by Aphrodite to bring happiness and joy, two feelings you will certainly remember about your stay in this guest house. The station is at about 2 miles, centre of Poperinge. Bikes are for rent at the guesthouse.
