The Golf Course of Garfagnana is only a 5 min drive (6 holes) and the lake of Pontecosi too... The fully walled mediaeval city of Lucca is an hour or so away, and is a great day out, full of sightseeing opportunities, restaurants, architecture, shopping, opera, and cycling around the walls. Pisa with its airport, and of course famous for its Duomo and Tower is a 90 mindrive, and Florence with its wealth of history and art is 1 hr 40 mins. The beautiful mediaeval town of Barga is a 25 min drive, and is lovely to visit, with its cathedral, cobbled streets, great views, outdoor music, and wealth of restaurants.... The National Parks of the Garfagnana, and the local ancient fortress (great for picnics!) are only a short drive away, as is the zip wire course through the trees, and of course there are numerous hilltop villages to visit very locally.
