Bea’s Cottage by the Sea, Cresswell Northumberland
A beautiful, quirky fisherman’s cottage set a stones throw from the sea! Outstanding views. Perfect for two or up to five. Bea's Cottage is a beautifully located cottage, sitting in a cliff top position a stones throw from the sea! It was fully renovated during 2020, originally a fisherman's cottage. We have made every effort to restore the charm and beauty of the cottage, retaining and bringing back to life the features that had been hidden with time. From restoring the beams, opening up the inglenook to repairing the old cauldron found in the fireplace. We hope it provides a relaxing, warm and homely place to unwind. It can sleep up to five but is equally perfect for a couple. There is a parking space at the rear of the cottage between the gate and outbuildings. If an additional car is brought or you have visitors then parking for that car would be on the road in front of the cottage. If the cottage is entered from the front, you will find a spacious hall area, stairs going up and a corridor with entrance into the living room and further down the hall, the entrance to the downstairs shower room and door to kitchen. The living room is a very spacious area. Beautiful views from the front window out across the field to Pele tower, an old medieval tower, recently renovated with beautiful views from the top! The living room opens up directly into the kitchen/diner. There is a TV and DVD player, wi-fi is available. There is a large wood burning stove, and an initial supply of wood is provided. A traditional wooden clothes airer sits above the inglenook. Perfect for drying clothes. The kitchen is accessed directly from either the end of the hallway or through the opening from the living room. A big space, with a modern kitchen installed, dishwasher, oven, electric hob, microwave and a lovely large old table to sit around and enjoy those much needed moments! French doors at the back of the kitchen take you out into a small patio area, this space also houses the oil tank for the heating. Bea's bench ( there is a plaque on the back of the bench identifying which is ours!) is situated on the cliff top a stones throw from the cottage. It captures the beautiful view, sunrise, sunset or dark skies! Enjoy a glass of fizz (or whatever your tipple!) whilst relaxing in a truly breathtaking spot. The upstairs has three cosy sized bedrooms. A rear room, with a king size bed, built in wardrobes and a beautiful view across the North Sea. A further two bedrooms are situated at the front of the property, with quirky, low level windows. One single room with small storage cupboard and set of drawers whilst the other has twin beds with a spacious built in wardrobe. The beams upstairs just need to be watched out for!! Also at the rear of the upstairs of the property is a bathroom, housing a small freestanding bath, toilet and sink. There is designated parking for one car at the rear of the property, if an additional car is brought or you have visitors with a vehicle, then there is parking on the road in front of the cottage. I live a half hour away in Whitley Bay, I would endeavor to assist if I can. Cresswell is a small village in a beautiful location. It is popular with walkers, and bird watchers. It has some spectacular scenery and an amazing golden sandy beach. The Northumberland coastal walk starts at Cresswell and runs for 64 miles, ending at Berwick-Upon-Tweed. There is a lovely and very popular ice cream shop just up the road and the Drift cafe is within a short walk from the cottage. Bea's cottage is a perfect location to explore Northumberland. There is a designated parking space for one car at the rear of the cottage. If an additional car is brought or you have visitors, then parking is available on the road at the front of the cottage (directly in front of). Happy to accommodate up to two dogs, downstairs only.
