Located in the heart of West Virginia, the city of Summersville is surrounded by beautiful waters with outdoor adventure at every corner. Nicknamed the “Little Bahamas of the East” Summersville Lake has more than 28,000 acres of water and 60 miles of shoreline, which makes it West Virginia’s largest lake. Try your hand at scuba diving, whitewater rafting, paddle boarding and kayaking or just relax on the lake in a boat all day. Or visit the breathtaking Summersville Lake Lighthouse the only light house in West Virginia and take a tour. Either way Summersville is the perfect place for an amazing adventure. Major Attractions Visit the beautiful Kirkwood Winery and Isaiah Morgan Distillery and take a tour and tasting of the vineyards, winery and distillery. Gad Dam Brewery is a new attraction located in the heart of Summersville. Sarge’s Dive Shop is the perfect place to go swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and paddle boarding. Located on the rim of the Gauley River and minutes away from Summersville Lake, Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park is an official Civil War Discovery site. The park offers picnicking, hiking trails, softball field, volleyball court, horseshoe pits and the Patterson House Museum-all while overlooking the scenic Gauley River. Route 19 is easily accessible from the house.
