Charming old forester’s house with modern design interior located in the midst of Gauja National Park 70km away from Riga.Beautiful summer vacation place for wildlife lovers. House has two levels. On the ground floor there is 50 m² cosy living room with kitchen, WC and bath. On the second floor there is spacious bedroom to sleep up to 5 people. Medieval town Cesis is just 20 km away, but to Ligatne city (8km) you can get by crossing river with the ferry driven by the strength of currents. The forester’s house is located an hour’s drive from Riga. It is surrounded by ancient forests and marshes. In short walking distance the self-made tower/ambush along the marsh offers good birwatching and wild animal observing place. You can hear magic sounds of nature: morning songs of birds and deer rutting calls at nights (in season). On the ground floor there is 50m² cosy living room with kitchen, WC and bath. You will find excellently equipped kitchen as host is professional chef. The living room has a large windows and you might see some wildlife from windows if you are lucky. On the second floor there is spacious 40m² sleeping room with capacity to sleep up to 5 people and WC. Sleeping room is equipped with one double bed and up to four comfortable floor mattress. You will find a lot of things to do in surroundings – exploring forest on feet or by bicycle, and picking up berries and mushrooms, going fishing and swimming in marsh lake or visiting Medieval Castle in Cesis city 20 km away. The closest city Ligatne is just in 8 km distance. It is known for its sandstoune cliffs, rocks, caves and Paper Mill historical village. To get there it is adventure itself! It is reachable if crossing river Gauja by ferry which is driven by strength of river currents. It is the only this type ferry left in Baltic States. Village Raiskums and lake is in 12 km. Straupe - the world's smallest Hansa city is in 15 km. Guests has the forester’s house on their own with access to washing machine, WiFi and BBQ place. You will find excellently equipped kitchen as host is professional chef. Wood fired sauna is also available for additional cost. There are available for free of charge to use four bicycles in order to get closer to nature. The house we live is located in the same courtyard, 20 m away. We can help with advice for exploring area if requested! The place is reachable only by car, there is no public transport. The closest grocery shop is in 8-10 km. In late May and whole June midges (small insects) can be quite bothering at evenings. The good news is that they are usually absent in a daytime.
