We call it "The Schoolhouse:" once a one-room schoolhouse and now a VT lake getaway! Private and close to activities: sandy dunes beach (1 mi), golf (1 mi), two vineyards (23 mi), Montreal (~1hr), beautiful biking roads, shared dock, sunset views over the lake, and back yard abuts 20+ acres of bird-filled conservation meadows. Good for couples, bikers/boaters, families w/ up to 1 child. 1 bathroom with shower; cozy and bright. Charcoal grill, kitchen, and Adirondack chairs, WiFi, stereo, A/C! This cozy renovated house is a former one-room schoolhouse that now has separated rooms for kitchen/dining and bed/sitting area, plus a fully enclosed sunporch and wrap around deck. It's outfitted with beautiful shaker furniture handmade by NA Durso Vermont Furniture Makers (Jesse's dad!) and all the utensils to cook delicious meals in the kitchen and grill on the deck just out the kitchen door. You can use everything at the house - it's a private home that's all yours, separated from other group of cottages on the road. The back yard from tall grasses of the conservation area (bird watching!) is all exclusive to our property and there are shared picnic benches over on the main green next to the other cottages. The dock across the street is shared with the cottages as part of the home owners association and is yours to use as well! There is stone circle for fires by the beach. The back field has some walking paths that are mowed for going to see the wildlife and smell the sweetgrass. We live in Boston and have neighbors who are there to help, plus a homeowners association head who takes care of all the water, dock and exterior maintenance. Neighbors there year-round are sweet as can be, you won't see too much of them but sometimes walkers and bikers take a turn down this relatively quiet road - usually because it's <1 mile to the dunes beach (only sandy beach in the islands, the rest are smooth stone beaches)! Check out the Isle La Motte historical houses, cider tasting and apple picking, north hero boating, and south hero wine making operations. Take a day trip to Burlington or Montreal in ~1 hour. Check the Dunes Beach website and Lake Champlain water conditions to see what is open and recommended for swimming. There is no mooring for a boat as part of the homeowners association, though there are some options to moor close by.
