The Little Barn, Gretton is a recently refurbished barn conversion in a farm setting within 7 acres of the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. We are close to some lovely places such as Uppingham, Oakham and Stamford. And convenient for Peterborough, Corby, Kettering, Leicester, and Northamptonshire. There are lots of wooded areas such as Fineshade woods nearby too. With space to sleep up to 5 adults , one double , 2 very sturdy single wall beds downstairs and one folding bed in either . The Little Barn is a beautiful building crafted from local stone, in a secluded farm setting where we are undertaking a rewinding project to benefit wildlife and decorated in a modern, cosy style. The space consists of a roomy open plan lounge dining area with high ceilings that has a very comfortable sofa and easychairs ,window seats and a television with sky tv . The furniture and furnishings set a calming feel to the rooms. Free WiFi. As well as central heating there is also a log burner to help you to unwind after an exciting day exploring the local area or after a visit to our local pub 3 miles away (they do a cracking roast). The lounge also has a murphy bed behind the t.v wall which has two very comfortable and sturdy single beds within it that is easily folded away during the day for the extra space if needed. An additional folding bed can be added to this room too. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster , slow cooker, tablewear and pans , though no washing machine or freezer. It has pretty much everything you need to create whatever culinary delights you wish. We supply tea bags, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, salt, pepper and cleaning products. The bathroom is also downstairs and includes a rainfall shower, toilet and small hand basin , quality shampoo, conditioner and shower gel . Upstairs you will find a calm and comfortable double bedroom with an en suite toilet and small washbasin as well as storage and hanging space for your clothes. The room is set into the loft space giving it an extra special cosy feeling and fantastic views through the roof window out over the fields. There is just enough space to put an extra folding bed in here or you may bring your own travel cot if you have an infant. At night the farm is usually incredibly quiet and we often get visited by various forms of the local wildlife including deer, owls, badgers and rabbits. Our base price is for up to 4 guests. If there a 5 of you we will provide a folding bed with linen and towels for an extra £10 per night. There is one shower and a toilet in the small downstairs bathroom and a further toilet upstairs. The mattress on the double bed is medium/firm. The single beds are medium. The extra bed is soft/medium. All towels and bedding are provided. Outside there is a small raised patio with a picnic bench for guests use where you may use a disposable barbecue and you are welcome to explore our 5acre field. For guests competing in the local equestrian events at Rockingham Castle, we have ample space to park a horse box and grazing may be available. The Barn is joined to our main house but is completely private. It has it's own access . Note: For the fire we will provide complimentary fuel for guests to light a fire on the first day of their stay, further fuel can be purchased for £5. Please request this when booking or message us when you are staying here. There will be an additional charge of £10 PER NIGHT if your booking includes pets (up to 2 dogs). This is payable on site at the beginning of your stay. Pets must not be left unattended in the property. Our family with young children and infants find the place ideal to stay in but please be sure it is suitable for your children and supervise them appropriately to avoid any safety issues. Guests can not charge electric vehicles at our property as our insurance policy does not cover us for this. Although we ask for 24 hrs notice when booking it may be possible to accommodate you at shorter notice. Please message us to discuss your needs. You'll have the whole place to yourselves, although the barn is joined to our home it is completely separated and private with its own entrance. We live in the main house, next door, and are on hand should you need anything, but generally we try our best to give you complete privacy. The Little Barn is situated on rewilded farmland on the outskirts of the lovely village of Gretton which has a local coffee shop and 2 pubs about 3 miles from your accommodation, all of which offer delicious meals and a range of drinks. It's also only about 3 miles to the outskirts of the small friendly town of Corby where you will find a shopping park that includes a large Asda and a Marks and Spencer’s food hall. In the main town of Corby are your usual shops and amenities such as Cinema, leisure centre, theatre and restaurants. In the opposite direction the next nearest place is Uppingham (6 miles) which is a very quaint little market town with various opportunities for eating/drinking and shopping. In terms of areas of interest we are close to a whole range of picturesque villages and towns including the following: Oakham 12 miles - the county town of Rutland Uppingham 6 miles- a lovely country market town with great selection of privately owned shops, especially antiques if that's your thing. Market on Fridays. Harringworth viaduct 5 miles- renowned spectacular railway architecture. Rockingham 3 miles we recommend a trip to the castle, the view from the terrace is beautiful. Stamford (20 or so miles) beautiful historic town. Burghley house 20 miles , a magnificent stately home with beautiful grounds and home to the famous horse trials. Fineshade Wood 10 miles. a great local woodland with walks of a variety of difficulty levels and a couple of nice play areas for the children. Rutland Water 10 miles a fab day out including lovely walks, watersports and even a waterside restaurant. Corby Olympic swimming pool 4 miles many important events are held here. Adrenaline Alley skate park 3 miles. Kirby hall .. 3 miles. Historical site. We recommend you have a car when visiting as the property is set on country roads without pathways. There are no local busses. A taxi to Corby is around £8-£10. We have plenty of free onsite parking. Sorry, no smoking or vaping. The accommodation is on a farm, there are some out of bounds areas for your safety. Although we try very hard to make our area beautiful please understand there may be some unsightly machines and materials here and not all jobs can be completed and cleared away at once. This is the countryside, you might see various types of wildlife which are normal for this type of environment. There is a pond in the field as well as farm machinery, children are not allowed outside without supervision. Up to 2 dogs are welcome by prior arrangement at a cost of £10 per night. Dogs are not to be left alone in the property. All pets must be flea treated. Please use the extract hood every time you cook to keep The Little Barn smelling fresh for the next guests. There is no washing machine but you can share our washing line if you do any hand washing. An airing rack can be supplied on request. There is no freezer. The accommodation has free WiFi. We cannot be held responsible for the quality of the signal as it is provided by a third party. The service charge you pay does not come to us it goes to airb&b and is a booking fee. Part of our nightly cost is also paid to airb&b. We do not receive the entire sum. We think you’ll find everything just right in the accommodation but please let us know immediately if there is anything we can do for you.
